Is it just me or does anyone else wonder why the story tags are at the end of a story?

For those of you who have no idea what I am talking about, Laurel and Manu have released a beta version of story tags, which appear in a little box at the bottom of a submission explaining what you can find in the content of the story.

Wouldn't it be a better idea to put them at the top? Obviously, once you've already read the story, you are going to know what is in it, and how many people would actually go to the end first to check out the tags before reading the story?

I thought the tags were used for searching rather than as a descriptor. I can see how it would be useful at the start of a story, however. Maybe that's a suggestion for Manu.

You've got a point about the searching... but you'd think it they were actually going to show up where people can see them that it would make more sense to move them to the top.

I was thinking it was more of how other sites use MMF and such codes and not searching. The use of the tags for searching makes sense.

What are Literotica Story Tags?

Story Tags are keywords or key phrases that authors may choose to attach to their stories to help readers find them.

For example, if a character in a story has green eyes, an author may choose to use "green eyes" as a story tag. If a reader were to look at the "green eyes" story tag, he would find a list of stories with characters with green eyes.

Literotica limits the number of official story categories to keep the site organized and manageable for readers, but the number of Story Tags is unlimited. Authors are freed to pick their own relevant story tags. If you find any stories with tags that are completely irrelevant, please let us know.

We also have a Story Tags Portal which shows a random sample of tags and the most used tags, as well as a list of tags which are only used on a single story. The Story Tags Portal, currently in Beta, gives readers another way to browse the library of stories currently published on
Liteortica(sic).

Laurel, please note the spelling error . . .

So, go ahead and try it, i.e., click on any "tag" in the box at the end of the story. It will open up a new page for stories with related or similar index tags--makes sense for those readers looking for another story to read with a similar flavor or flavors (yum).

It does appear some script bot picked the tags for stories that have already been posted prior to the beta testing as I seriously doubt if Laurel had the time to go back to every old story and pick out the favorite key words/tags. I may change mine one of these days--the relevance factor for those tags picked by the bot leaves something to be desired. Certainly I'll pick mine for future stories, if I ever get off my editing butt and finish them.
