Story submitted eight days ago

I submitted Chapter 7 of my Hard Landing series last Sunday and it still hasn't been posted yet. Anyone else having major delays with stories going up this week?

I know we have contest going on, but.... seems like a long time.

First, make sure you didn't accidentally save it to the "Drafts" folder. Make sure it's in "Pending".

I know, it's an obvious thing, but tapping the wrong button is easy enough to do, and that has actually proved to be the problem in many of these delays. Much like trying to edit your own work, you see what you expect to see, rather than what's actually there.

If it is in pending, then you've probably fallen into the crack that's appeared in the system, where sometimes submitted stories don't appear in Laurel's list for approval. The simplest way to deal with that has proved to be opening the pending submission, previewing it, and then submitting it again as if you edited it before approval.

While that does move your story to the back of the queue, it has been demonstrated to put it in the queue where Laurel can see it, and the turnaround is still averaging about two days for established authors. It could take that long for you to PM Laurel and get your story dug out of the crack in the queue anyway, should you choose to go that route.

Eight days is long enough to ask Laurel about it in a PM, assuming other possibilities don't seem to be the cause.
