Story Stuck in Pending

Looking for some advice on a story I've been trying to submit more than a few times now. For some reason it stays in pending limbo forever without word for why it's there for so long. It's not even being rejected, it just stays in pending. At one point I let it stay in pending for two weeks before I deleted the submission. I have submitted a few other stories in between those attempts and they are published here just fine. I went through the Lit guidelines and I don't see anything to suggest I violated any of them. Also, each time I submit that story, I go through it and change it up a little to fix the story in case I find some minor thing that could be misconstrued as a guideline violation, which isn't much.

I did try to message Lit about it a couple of times, but no answer.

Any advice on what may be going on with why this one particular story keeps being stuck in pending mode and how to get past it?

Alight, I understand the process involved and I'll keep trying, but it doesn't explain how other stories I submit go through but it's just this one story only.
I had one posted today after only a couple days after submitting it without a problem while the story I'm talking about was still pending for much longer.

Nobody on this forum claims to understand it. We're all flailing around in the dark, trying to figure it out from not-enough clues, because the management doesn't tell us anything except "Yes, we'll publish," or "No, rejected for this reason," or [silence]. It's that last one that frustrates people.

Don't do this without getting an actual rejection, which comes with a note stating why it was sent back. Just re-submitting it is fine. A note in the Notes field stating what happened might be helpful.

What we know is that a percentage of stories are getting stuck and never seem to see the light of day again. Many stories are published just fine - based on the volume of stories, some people have guesstimated that say 10% of submissions are falling into a black hole. That might be an exaggeration.

But it is happening at random - the same person can be stuck and have another story published. Some of the most well-know writers on the site have been impacted.

Some people have broken out of purgatory by resubmitting (maybe with deletion) but even that doesn’t seem to be a universal panacea.

Wow its "good" to know even known writers have this problem. No offence lol.
This can mean that stories aren't the problem but something's wrong with the site.

I submitted a five-part series last night. By this morning, Part 1 was scheduled (for Friday). By this evening, Parts 2 and 3 were published for successive days.

What we can't know is, are my stories getting through because of how I write? Because they aren't randomly falling into a crack? Because each of these five included a request to the administrator, which might bring them to Laurel's human attention?

We can know that it isn't my having a published other stories, because much more prolific writers have been blackholed. It can't be quality, because several are better writers than me.

All I can say is that my own series has been consistently approved and scheduled up to part 16 (as of today anyway) without any special request attached

I'd never run into issues until my last two stories. I've pretty much given up on them. It's incredibly disappointing because one was for the Halloween contest. But it kept getting bounced around to the point that I've said screw it. At this point, I guess I'll just release them elsewhere.

I'm working on a new story that I hope to submit in the next few days. If that runs into the same issues, I may have to seriously consider publishing somewhere else.

This is not hard to understand. There is a random glitch which impacts random stories. It doesn’t matter whether you are an award-winning author like @MelissaBaby or CumOverMomsTits22 and barely literate.

What seems likely is that either the glitch got much worse, or it had previously been ameliorated by human intervention, and for a while the human side was not working as before, for unknown reasons.

Sorry to hear, I know it’s super frustrating ☹️

I just submitted a story while I have one pending since 10/8 - it will be interesting to see if the second one goes through and validates the “fell in a black hole” theory.

At the moment, the first three parts are scheduled but not the last two. Of the same five-part series all submitted within a couple of hours of each other. I sure hope those two haven't fallen into a black hole.

If they have, they'll be published on the other side of the galaxy.

And now all five parts are scheduled. False alarm. First part is out today.

There's a glitch causing some stories to disappear into a cyberspace black hole. There are about 18 threads on this.
