I submitted my latest story, Turning the Tables in the BDSM category last Tuesday. Like an over excited kid I checked several (many) times yesterday and it was showing as submitted not published. I even read all the stories published yesterday.
This morning I wake up and it’s been published... but yesterday...midway through the stories I read yesterday. It has a total of three views the other stories published yesterday have over thousand views.

It might not be the most perfect story but it is a damn good effort to be half way down yesterday’s published page with only 3 views.
Has anyone had this happen before ?

I have used the contact us form to message admin.

I’m a bit sad as the story was way out of my comfort zone, I’ve been working on it since last August to try and get it right, now it’ll be lost off the front page before it gets a chance for feedback.

That does seem to be a variance in story hits that I've never seen. I have no clue as to how any BDSM story could have so few hits — but you've done the right thing in asking if there is an anomaly here.

It may have really been published today. Our lovely Laurel is not infallible and has been known to type in the incorrect date for a story to be published.

So, yesterday, thinking that today would be the 30th, she types in 04302020 and boom, the story get published immediately. She catches her mistake yet doesn't remember the story(s) she made it on and continues by adding the correct date of 05012020.

So your story was actually kind of hidden from readers who had already perused all the new stories yesterday and were looking for new stories today.

It happens not very often but it does happen.

A few months ago I had something similar happen, also in BDSM. It was on the front page for two days and when it came off it had a handful of votes and was at 3.67 because of a two 1 votes and about fifty views and, because I was so down in the dumps, I asked for it to be deleted.

Two weeks after deletion I submitted it again with a different title and changed the description. I can’t remember the views and readers who voted the second time but when it came off the front page the rating was 4.7. Maybe it was the change of title and/or description. Maybe it was the weather.

Would it be an option to request deletion of the story and then resubmit it in a few days?

You don't have to request that, you do it yourself, resubmitting it with the word delete after the title and in the notes field. Takes a few days because new stories get priority.

I just clicked on it and its showing zero for views...I wonder if its just not updated, because I also clicked your page and the story has no score either. I put a vote on it, so check in a bit and see if it reflects that. Could be a glitch where nothing is registering because bots alone should give you some views.

And BDSM traffic has dwindled over the years, I have my theory on that, but won't bore anyone with it, and if its your first story in the category that will get less views than a familiar name

To boost it you could go to the feedback forum and start a thread asking for people to look at it and see what they think.

When I looked at it earlier, it had 770 some-odd views and a score ( though that score hadn't yet registered on the public author page )

The only place your numbers are up to date is your private author page. If you're looking at anything else, it's always outdated by at least a few hours, and as much as 24.

Probably more than that if the reports of the toplists glitching out again are accurate.

That really does sound the most likely. Well I’ve messaged to ask if it can be checked.

Lovecraft68 and RejectReality it makes guess the views fun lol. Thank you both for checking.
I have only published in BDSM but I wouldn’t say I have a following and thank you so much for the vote

The best way to boost story views after they've been posted is to write new stories, preferably in more popular categories. That way, people who enjoy your work will go back and check out your other stories.

Whenever I post a new stories, my older stories always get a boost with favorites.

The most recent story I’ve been battling with since last August, just trying to find the right angle. It’s gonna take me sometime to get favourites at that speed

Noticed another new story in the BDSM category listed as published 30 April yet only appeared today. Not my story but what ever caused this is still happening
