Hi there,

Not sure if this is the place to post this or not. It's a question for the admins. I tried to post Chapter 4 of a work that was previously submitted to an account that I have lost access to and it was sent back, saying that I had to post Chapters 1-3 first. Those chapters are still on Lit under my original user name. I'd like to get it up so people can read it. I also have other work I intend to post.

Thoughts on how to get this resolved?

You will need to PM Laurel and explain what happened. You should be able to work out a solution.

How do you lose access to an account? Don't you just need to ask for a password reset, or have you deleted the email account the Lit account is tied to?

PM Laurel - she's going to want to see something that shows your old account and your new account are the same person. Not sure how you do that, if you've changed your original email address and locked yourself out of Account #1

I lost access to the email account that I used to create the original account. Mail.com deleted it and it can't be recovered or recreated.

You should be able to explain that to Laurel - suggest you PM her - user name = Laurel

Good luck!

On the other hand, if you can't establish ownership of the first two chapters to reasonable satisfaction, Laurel really should respond that she can't help you with this--and you should swallow that and go on to write something entirely different. You knowing they are your stories but you and how the originals were written being anonymous isn't really enough for others, I'm afraid.

Yeah, no. That's not acceptable. But they may not be posted here then. Which would be a shame.
I have a fondness for Lit, but if it can't be resolved then my work won't be posted here.

Burden of proof then, to show without doubt that you and your original account are one and the same person.

I know there are several other authors here that now post on different accounts for varying reasons. I can't come up with them off hand, due to the volume of stuff I read, but it isn't unheard of at all.

I submitted a support ticket back when I first started writing again, and never got a response. I'm willing to dance through some hoops, but when it comes down to it, this is a free story site that has multiple alternatives, and it isn't the end of the world if I can't post here. I kinda want to post here for the sake of my readers, and because this is where I started writing...but if Lit makes it overly difficult, well... that says all I need to know about the site. It's not like my stuff is popular enough to pirate/copy. Frankly, if I found my stuff on Amazon or something like that under another name, I'd probably be flattered first rather than annoyed. It's 3(now 4, with 5 on the way) chapters of kinky D&D. Hardly worth the effort of copying.

Meh, whatever.

If it posts, fine. If not, well, that kinda sucks, but I'll find somewhere else to post and move on.

Heh, congrats to Laurell for paying attention to the forum. I just got a PM from her.

I've also asked another very prominent Lit author who I know via FB to chime in if she has the time. She might remember me from back when, as another layer of verification. I interact with her on a semi-regular basis.

I'm now much more hopeful that this can be resolved successfully.
