i have no idea if this is possible, since i have never seen it happen... but can an author request that their stories be removed from the site, deleted?
just curious at this point.

Yes. Simply submit a "story" entitled "REMOVE" and in the text area where you'd normally copy and paste the story, type in your request to include specific titles.

This wouldn't be anything to do with Nightwriters thread would it?

Just asking.

the reasons are personal

um... no, on the night writer thing. i just have had these stories up here for ages and i have changed a great deal as a writer and as a person since i intially posted them. in some ways, they keep me from posting anything new.
my reasons are completely personal and do not reflect on the site in any way.
but now you have me all wondering about this other thread.

While I hesitate to disagree with the Killer, I believe that Lit has a right to your stories for a year. They need not 'delete', even if requested. Only after year that are you entitled to your 'remove' request. Maybe that is true of your stories.

As I understand it, if a story is recent, it is entirely Laurel's discretion whether to delete as the author might request--i.e., she's essentially doing you/them a favor, if she does (and she does, sometimes).

I may have some details wrong, but that's what I recall from earlier discussions with authors asking for deletions.

That's a first... Laurel never failed to delete any of my or anyone-else-I-ever-heard's stories and/or poems, individually or literally by the hundreds upon request with virtually no wait...

Literotica only reserves the right to display the stories for a year when you've won a contest. Other than contests and the anthology, Literotica only asks for the non-exclusive right to publish your story until such time as you want it removed. It's in the FAQ.
