Story Rejection

Does anyone know if stories are rejected by algorithm or is their some human interaction?

There is a human involved. She vets all the stories here on Lit. She and her husband own the site. I'm pretty sure she does use some software to search for things that aren't allowed to be posted here.

What was the message in the rejection notice? Click on the rejected link in your dashboard if you haven't already.

Thanks for the response. The rejection was apparently for underage sex - which is puzzling since my submission was Part 4 of a series. Same characters from the first three parts and they didn't get any younger in the latest part. Two new male characters in Part 4 are both clearly stated to be 20 years of age.

That's why I thought an algorithm might be to blame.

Love the Morse code........

Ahhh, underage! It’s been the subject of much heated discussion.

The simplest way is to put the usual nerdy disclaimer at the beginning about all characters being 18+. Or you can resubmit unchanged with a note in the admin box explain8ng what you just said.

Thanks for the reply. I tried the nerdy disclaimer and it got rejected a second time. I've modified the story a bit and will resubmit taking your advice about the admin box.

If Laurel has rejected a story, merely resubmitting it with a disclaimer won't cut it.

There's probably something in the text that has caught her eye, or the eye of a word bot. You might need to scrub through your text to find an offending sentence or two, and tweak something.
