Can a story that was published in a wrong category be modified?

i submitted "Seven Things..." (Seven Things You Should Know About Your Wife) under the LW category. It has elements of group sex, anal, exhibitionism, lesbian, and incest. The over-riding theme by far is adultery.

Somehow, when it was published, it ended up under "Incest/Taboo". The incestuous element was only a few paragraphs out of two pages. i've received at least one comment that decried the appropriateness of the story for I/T.

Is there any way to get a story re-categorized? i'm not sure where to go to bring this to the attention of the webmasters, or to at least get an explanation so i don't make the same mistake with another story.

Best Regards,

Only one webmaster here. Laurel owns and operates the LIT site, and reads and approves submissions, posting them in the category she thinks appropriate. You can send her a PM asking for re-categorization. Don't expect an immediate reply.

It might be quicker to resubmit the story with exactly the same title (plus EDIT), with your preferred category, and a note to the editor asking for a category change, with the reasons you've given here. Doing it this way should guarantee Laurel sees it in her normal processing queue - whereas she might miss a PM.

I had almost the exact same thing happen to one of my stories. Evidently, I/T takes precedence over everything else when categorizing the story. I submitted a request to have my story reclassified to the 'Anal' category--it was written to target that genre--but because there was sex between a guy and his future mother-in-law, it went into I/T.
In response to my request to have it moved, I got:
"There is sex between a woman and her daughter's fiance/husband. That will categorize this story as incest. If there are no family members involved in this story, kindly let us know and we will change the category. Thanks!"

I was savaged on story feedback for apparently putting my first story in T&C instead of NonCon. I sent it in again, as EB66 suggests, with the word EDIT added to the title and a request for the category to be changed. No problem.

I had a story refused because it supposedly contained gratuitous violence. I sent it in again with the word EDIT added saying that it wasn’t gratuitous violence and pointing out that rewriting without that scene would make the story pointless. Explanation accepted and story published.

I've had only two stories sent to other cats than I intended: an early one I thought was LW but went to NC, and a recent one with cousin-fucking I thought was Group but Laurel sent to Incest. I've voluntarily moved stories to more appropriate cats. No big thing.

I've put GM and Incest bits in Group tales but not as major themes and so drew no ire. Thus I conclude that 'trumping' is rather flexible.
