I have a simple in inquiry. I have a story that was just posted several hours ago. I look at the views and it has 3 views and those are from before when it was still pending. Now it has 13 votes. I have already recieved 4 feedback letters.

Simple math I know more people have viewed it at least more than 3.

I noticed this same thing happend to a story posted a week ago it took a day before the counter started to register.

Not a big deal, I am not getting my panties in a bunch. I was just wondering is this common? I have never noticed this before.

The View count is only updated periodically -- once a day, I think -- and the views shown are always less than the actual, real-time, number of views. Unless they remain unchanged for a day or more, of course.

Updating the views count for each author in real-time would impose a horendous load on the database and slow things down consierably.

Thanks Harold,

I figured it was something that was common, computer glitch or something. I had never really paid attention before. Like I said I know the last story took like a day to start showing views.

Not the biggest emergency either. I do sometimes now and then like to see how many people have at least opened the story. Comparing that to email and vote counts, gives me a better perspective if the story was worth writing.

Thank you
Phil
