Hello All
I'm baaaaaack. Well at least for a little while -chuckles- Before school sucks me back into the black hole of books and papers that have nothing to do with enjoyment and everything to do with too much caffeine and thoughts entertaining the idea ofa length of rope and my neck.
Anyway, for those who have written asking over the last several months for the continuation of my series, For The Sake of an Empire (Under Novels/Novellas), I have picked it up again. Slowly but steadily it is plodding along. Part of the reason for the incredibly long lag is that it has been entirely revamped.
For thsoe of you who were following the original story,you know that it took place in Ancient Rome and was more along the lines of historical fiction. I got stuck frankly, and didnt know how to move it forward because alot of the climatic points happened too quickly, and trying to keep the historical accuracy with a strong female protagonist was difficult. My editor (Rogue Lurker who is awesome) suggested changing to a setting loosely based on Roman culture so I could keep aspects of what I liked and leave the rest behind. SO that is what we did.
The new city is called CELAENIA. The main characters, Marcus and Portia are still the same, however other minor characters such as the High Priest Commodus, Gemella, Portia's lady-in-waiting and Captain Sirrus, Portia's lover (and former 1-dimensional boy toy) all have much larger roles in the new version of the story. This basically means all the former chapters were re-written. Alot of the unnecessary LONG paragraphs and flowery language were removed and alot more inrigue and betrayal was added.
The biggest changes people may notice are that the former Chapter 3 of the original, is now broken up into 3 chapters (chapters 4-6) and ALOT more has been added. I suggest anyone who read the original, go back and start from Chapter 1. I promise you, its much better now. Give it a chance.
So everyone knows, Chapters 1-4 are up and Chapters 5&6 were submitted and are pending approval so check back in a few days. I am currently working on Chapters 7+.
