Subject: Story Pending for Two Weeks - Is This Normal?

Hi everyone,

I submitted my story on April 29, 2025 and it’s been in "Pending" status for two weeks now. Is this a normal wait time for new submissions, or could there be an issue with my submission?

I’m wondering if I might have formatted something incorrectly or missed a step when submitting. I used the "Preview & Publish" option, but I’d appreciate any advice on what to check or how to confirm everything’s okay. Should I wait longer or reach out to someone like Laurel?

This is my "first submission" , and I submitted it to the Exhibitionist & Voyeur category.

Thanks for any help or insights!

Two weeks is abnormally long, but not unheard of, at least for most categories. Illustrated stories often take that long or longer.
I advise contacting Laurel through the direct message option here in the forums with a simple request to see if it got lost in the shuffle somewhere. She probably won't respond directly, but unless there's a specific reason for it being reviewed more closely, it might get shaken loose in the next few days.

If it has a Pending status, then it has been submitted and is awaiting approval. FIrst submissions sometimes take extra time to process but, as @Bamagan said, two weeks is a long wait.

I’ve been waiting for 16 days. I’ve published 10 stories in the past, and they were usually published within 1-3 days. However, I haven’t published a story since 2023, and this one is over 12,000 words long. Perhaps this could be the reason for the extended delay.

12k is nothing, but perhaps this long hiatus has reset your "trusted author" flag in the system which many speculate exists. You might be getting a new author treatment for this reason and thus experience extra delays.

I was going to ask the same question today. I sent Laurel a message. I’ve had one Pending now since Saturday, but what is strange is it also shows as New, as it was published.

Maybe it’s simply my urgency to get it published. It’s a part one of two, which will conclude a series of mine.

That means it's about to go live, on the date shown against New.

The date shows is 6/28. Any thoughts on that?
Well that's an interesting new bug! It isn't June of next year, by any chance? You said you already messaged Laurel so I expect it will probably be resolved soonish. I wonder if it's somehow related to the category changes. I don't know how adding or re-ordering the category options could break something like that, but the timing is odd.

That is what has me so perplexed. Showing 6/28/25 🤷🏼‍♀️

I will take a stab in the dark and guess that whatever program or software the site is using doesn't account for a user input with a date in the past. If the story was approved on 6/29 and any day prior to that was accidentally clicked or otherwise entered or selected, it probably doesn't get 'forwarded' to the publication queue. Blind guessing on my part, but I doubt it will be a major thing to correct.
