Story locked? Grr. *bash* *bash*

Hiya,

I've had a good few days of adding to Aaralon's Discoveries. Just now, however, I've discovered that I can't seem to edit or add any new posts.

I am logged in as Sixth. The console still shows me as admin.

Any suggestions? Can an admin poke the errant parts in the database please!

Thanks for the quick response. I've logged in and out and closed my browser to fresh session cookies.

I still can't edit or add anything.

It looks like it's just Aaralon who's effected as other stories show the add thread button as normal.

I can add new threads to it without problem. Try deleting your cookies or try another web browser.

That's weird. I can see the Add Thread button just fine (except where the max number of threads has been reached) and I can see the "edit thread" link for my own threads.

Out of curiosity: can you add to/edit your other story? And when did this start?

Nope. Same effect when I try and access the site in Chrome.


... mind you, I don't think I've been to Chyoo in Chrome before and the site knew who I was when I visited. I wonder if the Google toolbar is carrying over cookies or something weird.

I'll try in Internet Explorer (*shudder*)

Nope-nope. No luck with clean cookies and IE.

Now I'm beginning to worry. It must be username specific. I'm a good guy and only have the one account here - can anyone else get the "add thread" button (at least?)

Yup. I can add/edit my other story.

This happened some time today. I wrote a post or two from home today. Right now I'm on a different computer using a 3g dongle to access the net. That's changed... however I can write for other stories.

So it seems that something happened between 1pm GMT at 5pm GMT.

I'm about to leap on a plane so this may be my last post for a few hours.

Might have something to do with the change in computer, miss reading html/css files somewhere along the lines. Have you tried rebooting your computer? Most likely to fix any temporary screw ups.

Have restarted laptop and checked with various browsers.

Still no luck. The chance of this being an HTML or CSS error is tiny. However; If no one with access can see anything wrong with my access rights or story locks then I guess we've nothing else to do than wait until I get home and try again with my main laptop.

Check to see if you have No checked next to the continue stories? question when you go and edit the thread. If you do, check yes and everything should be fine.

Also, I checked the other threads in the story and they seem fine.

Everything seems okay now... I'm still on the travelling laptop and on the vodafone dongle.

Very strange.

I'll cope with the mystery. It's good to be able to keep writing for the flagship story
