I did read other threads about this but I've done the things recommended, and so far no result! My story "A Meeting of the Minds" has been in pending since Dec 1. I've written to Laurel here, about three days ago. I understand she's busy.

Does anyone know of another way to get some relevant person's attention to ask what may be going on with the story?

It's really marked as "pending," right? Sometimes it doesn't actually get submitted.

You haven't touched while it's in "pending," right? Messing with it while it's there sends it back to the end of the submissions que.

It's just a text story, not an illustrated one, right? Illustrated ones take significantly longer to clear.

You contacted Laurel only through the PM system, right? She doesn't open other e-mail.

Eleven days is long enough to ask, and if you haven't gotten an answer, it's good reason to ask again via the PM system. Hope you manage to get it posted.

Patience helps. However aggravating, your delay is still in the upper end of the normal range right now. If the status is actually “pending”, it’s in the queue and Laurel should be reviewing it soon.

I would recommend checking your “My Stories” page to confirm it actually is pending and not shelved (ie, not yet submitted) or sent back (a problem has been identified).

If it’s truly pending, Patience.

Waiting bugs me too. But she’s running as fast as she can.

When I look at my works, it says "1 pending," and when I click on that, it lists the story in question. That means I submitted it and it's pending right?

(And when I look at that pending list, I make sure not to hit "submit" and to just navigate away from that list, so I'm not resubmitting it over and over)

It sounds as if you’re doing everything right. For what it’s worth, I can recall one of my early submissions taking a couple of weeks - the delay is a combination of the current depth of the story queue, Laurel’s availability, and your track record. As others have noted, well known and trusted authors often don’t receive the in-depth scrutiny that first time submissions are subjected to.

Yep. If it makes it to 14 days ( and it's not audio or illustrated ) then contact Laurel via PM ( There's a draconian spam filter on the contact email that requires email verification, and the verification email often ends up in the spam folder or is outright blocked by some email providers )

Alternately, you could just go ahead and click the pending story, don't change anything, preview, and click submit again. It will reset its position in the queue, so it will take a couple more days, but that has typically worked when a story gets lost in the cracks of the queue.

Likewise

I posted similar a few weeks ago. tried 3 times to far to get a story published and each time it stayed in pending mode for weeks. I cancelled after a few weeks and tried again, but the same. Onto my 3rd time now and it has been 10 days in pending.

I want to write more chapters to it and my other stories, but worried this new pending issue will become common. Hopefully not, but maybe the site might go the way BDSM Library went

Hello!

Text stories that are not edits of already posted stories generally take around 48-72 hours to be posted. If your story has not moved for longer than that, the first thing to do is to check here:
https://www.literotica.com/my/#/works/stories/pending?page=1

If your story is not showing on this page, it means that you have not submitted it to us. Please check here:
https://www.literotica.com/my/#/works/stories/drafts?page=1

If your story is showing at the link above, it means your story is still in Drafts. Please click on the story. Scroll to the bottom and click the PREVIEW button, then click SUBMIT on the next page. Once you've done this, please check your PENDING queue. Your story should show there now.

If your story is not Text with Audio or Illustrated, is in fact in PENDING as has still not moved for over 48-72, it's possible that you may have opened the pending submission and hit SUBMIT more than once. Stories and poems are approved by date, oldest to newest. Whenever the author makes changes to a story or poem - or even if the author clicks on the submission and hits SUBMIT again - that submission is moved to the end of the queue. To speed up the posting of your work, only make changes when necessary.

If your story is submitted in the Text with Audio or Illustrated categories, do know that those take longer to process. If it hasn't been processed after 7 days, please PM me.

Thank you and Happy Holidays!

Annoying

It's annoying whatever the reason for this long pending issue is. Since my last comment just before Christmas, I deleted the story and re-submitted it again, three weeks later and still pending.

I might be being paranoid, but I get the feeling someone hates my story, but instead of sending it back to me with an issue, they are deciding to just sideline it in limbo.

As mentioned before, I would love to write more stories and also add to my existing ones, but this pending issue is putting me off wasting my time. Think it might be time to search for another story site we can post to.

Why would Laurel bother giving you such personalised attention, to "hate" a story? That's silly.

Are you absolutely sure you've submitted it, and are you absolutely sure you haven't missed a rejection notice (if there is one)?

As evidenced by the post above yours, Laurel does browse the forums and is aware of what's going on. Better to seek her favour politely rather than complain too loudly, I'd have thought.

I'd check your end again, to be absolutely sure you've submitted the story.

Very sure it's uploaded, I uploaded the story multiple times and each time left it for weeks whilst it stayed in pending mode. Seeing your reply made me check again, and it's the same, still pending. I submitted it the same way I always have.

I would immediately PM Laurel on this one. Obviously, she's seen the thread.

With the others non this, now - if you're totally sure, send a PM to Laurel. It sounds like it keeps slipping through a crack in the system - it'll be a system glitch, it won't be personal.
