Story Ideas in Your Queue?

'More complicated story?'- Do you ever have what seems a simple story idea, and while writing it the story takes off in a different direction? That's been happening more to me as of late. Not trying consciously to make it more interesting, the story just seems to detour in a different direction as if I had little control over it. A good friend who was a lifelong teacher, told me several years ago, that I appear to have the adult version of ADHD, and some of that rings true.
Yeah, I have the same thing happen. I have a vision of where I want my story to go but then somewhere along the way, for whatever reason, it takes off in a different direction. Sometimes that happens 2 or 3 times in the same story.

I keep a list of unfinished, or partly written story ideas. I have about 40. In the last 40 days I was able to tick off a couple of them, but new ideas keep coming.

I wanna say I have seven standalones ready to be written. And the workings of two new series. And one extremely long novel project, that’s probably going to end up on shelves, if I ever stop being lazy and find time for it.

Unfortunately doing too many things at once and jumping between too many characters has proven to scramble my attention-deficit laden brain, so it’s going to be one thing at a time for me. Next up is my Nude Day submission.

Sometimes when I'm working on a story, new ideas pop into my head for future stories. I keep a list of them on my online drive to revisit later. Right now I have 16 "good" ideas that I'd like to work on. Two on the list have been published, and I'm working on part 02 for both of them. I did 'Bare Ass Beach' late in 2021, and have about 20,000+ words on pt.02 completed. I recently published another on that list, 'Forced!' less than a week ago, and have ~3300 words on pt. 02. I've been more focused on 'Forced!', pt. 02, since the story is kind of writing itself.

I'm curious how many story ideas you are considering, or if you even keep a list. I write a brief synopsis on how the planned story will unfold. I know that a lot of writers on Lit.com are ten times more prolific than me, and can only imagine what their lists look like.
  1. Two very short jerk-off “stories”, which I haven’t written any of in a while - will make a change
  2. A second Emma & Lily story - have some ideas, just not had the story come into focus
  3. An American girl going to study in London - autobiographical elements, but I was going to write a made-up story around the actual scenario
  4. Finishing my “restorative power of lesbian sex” story - quasi-autobiographical
  5. Finishing my “training my bf to tie me” story - ditto
  6. Further chapters of Coffee with Dylan - got back burnered due to writing for events
  7. Finish The Kiss - have some renewed motivation for this, just two more chapters and they are short
  8. I’ve abandoned my lesbian version of my published JOI story as being too complicated to pull off (see what I did there?)
  9. Half thinking of a Na-ri / Duxie spin-off of Coleoidphilia - 🦑🇰🇷
  10. Would like to do another Lucia / Jacob story - but no idea as to a plot and don’t want to ruin the original
And a few less well-formed ideas.
