Story Ideas, Help!

Hey everyone, I have quite a few stories I need help with. I just need to bounce some ideas of someone and get some feedback.

Can anyone help?

I would post the stories individually on the forum, but I don't want to spam.

You should just make one or two story idea posts here and you'll almost certainly get some helpful feedback, that's what this forum is for!

There are people that post a new idea thread every day or two here, it doesn't seem to be a problem.

Heck I think @Brandnewbuddy once dropped something like six story idea threads in a single day, and I don't recall anyone complaining.

They were all fairly entertaining threads too if I recall correctly, but I can't remember what they were about.

Hmm, most people will at worst point out what part of your idea will keep it from being published.

There are a few people that will point out that they don't like that sort of thing. Most of those are when someone is putting out a question that makes assumptions.

Like assuming that a high pain tolerance equals a high masochism level. Or that masochists like to start off at 100. Even though a few do I'm sure.

But, if for the above example you want to start a story off with pain, then your story idea thread should instead of being, "I want to open the story off on the sharp pointy tip of a knife circling the clit, what do you think?" That will have most masochists even clenching their legs together and going, "Knife play to start? No, just no."

Instead you should do something like, "So I want to start the story off with the sharp pointy tip of a knife circling the clit. But I'm not sure where to go from there." You're less likely to get people just telling you "No!" and instead trying to brain storm where to go from there or asking more questions about the set up that might have you thinking about it more.

Plenty of story ideas are dark. But people are just as likely to give you grief for an idea that they feel is too sappy, or too cliché, or too simple, or too convoluted.

It's what you do with the idea that matters. Plenty of my stories are dark, and nobody's ever really complained. Write the best story you can, and your readers will forgive a lot.

Don't forget LW lol. Some of those are pretty dark as well. But the point stands. The Dark of a story doesn't matter, most writers are capable of being objective when it comes to other people's work.
