Story Discussion Group

There is a forum just for that.

The Story Discussion Circle might appreciate your post above. In the Author's Hangout we try to avoid detailed criticism of stories because there is a more appropriate place.

I hope that helps.

Oh, ok. I'll go there. Our moderator, Miss Taken, suggested that I post a link here, so if this is the wrong place, I apologize.

No need to apologise. The SDC is likely to be more help than we are, although some of us participate in both.

This is part of our new friendly policy towards polite enquiries.

The next enquiry gets referred to the gentlepeople of the General Board for dismemberment.

Hi Graceanne,

Since 'authors' is essentially an unmoderated forum you can do whatever you please there. A group of SM writers can easily set up a thread. Many are there to chit chat, but some are interested in talking about their writing. And you may bring in whomever you please.

The Story Discussion Circle is set up for feedback and critiques, as Ogg suggested, but he did not add that it's done on a 'swap' basis. I.e., you give a couple critiques and you get one, sort of thing. IOW, there's an attempt at community spirit, not merely "I'd like y'all to read my stuff and give feedback, then I'll be on my way." If that 'swap' idea suits you, do drop in.

If you simply want critiques, and want a 'circle' for feedback, you can do it here at authors' or in story feedback or on the general boards. That is to say, Do what you want at any unmoderated forum.

Ok. Cool.
Actually I was thinking a sharing thing, that's what we all agreed on. But in an orderly way. Once a week a story is put up, by authors request, and then we all discuss it and critique it. And none of my stuff has been read yet. This isn't about me, but about all of us.
The main reason that I started it is that I, and others, have mentioned how hard it is to get constructive critisism (sp?). The idea is that this way we'll get more than "i liked your story" or "your story sucked". I mean that kind of feedback is really unhelpful. Not that I'm complaining about people who just say "I liked your story", I appreachiate it, cause then I know that my stories are liked, but the people who write and say stuff like, "you need to do . . ." are really helpful.

I forgot the obvious.

In the moderated BDSM forum, you clearly have something topical, so that is another possible place for your thread. MissT is not going to prevent that, I'm sure.

In the "moderated" BDSM Forum some of the most outrageous personal attacks are (or at least, were) allowed without any attempt at restraint. Perhaps that is not a good place to offer stories for criticism. It is/was also very clique oriented.

It's a chaotic crew, but if you're just interested in feedback for your own stories...the Story Feedback forum might be another option. It's not as organized as the SDG, and you probably won't get the amount or detail of critique, but it might do for immediate feedback.

Hi Graceanne,

Like Pure said, the topics are varied in the SDC, but from what you wrote I think it's exactly what you guys were looking for.

Drop in and have a look at one or two of the most recent threads to give you an idea.

:D
