Well, no one’s going to mention this, so I will.

Since KillerMuffin seems to have vanished from this vale of tears without a trace, our own irascible Pure has taken it upon himself to single-handedly keep the Story Discussion Circle Workshop going. This is a very valuable resource for any writer who wants to take advantage of it, a place to bring problem stories or works in progress and get honest opinion and criticism on them, and it was in danger of sinking below the waves of apathy before Pure stepped up to the plate. So this is just a word of thanks from one who appreciates his efforts.

This is also an open invitation for anyone who’s interested in seeing how a story gets hammered together and taken apart, turned over and examined from any number of viewpoints, dissected and discussed. The latest story under the kinfe is by Angela146 and is very clever and even audacious little tale that’s well worth reading on its own.. If you want to have a look, here’s a link:

https://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=241582

And anyone who might have a story of their own they’d like to plonk down on the table, you’re encouraged to do so.

I still have nightmares about when I submitted my story to the workshop.

Seriously though, it's a great resource for any writer, whether it be one just getting started or one who has been at if for awhile. I workshopped my very first erotic story, and thanks to the critiques that I got in the SDC, it underwent a few revisions and is now a highly rated story here on Literotica (4.71).

I thought Pure had a thread on it here a while ago when he first started. A reminder for everyone is always a good thing though! :) Personally, I always find the discussions on there damned fascinating.

I'm next on the chopping block so I visited yesterday and did my first ever critique on a story. And while it's a great resource for writers to get their stories picked apart, I believe it's an equally good place for other authors to analyze a story they did not write and are not emotionally attached to.

I really enjoyed examining a new story and thinking of ways that it might be improved upon. It really got me thinking about things to work on with my own writing as well as things to totally avoid. It's really a great place and while I have yet to see how it will improve one of my stories specifically, I now know it is a helpful place to get the wheels turning on story mechanics and what not. I always see tiny things in stories that I might've done differently but rarely made a point of analyzing why/how until yesterday. Good Stuff.

The SDC is an invaluable resource. My one story I had workshopped Held the top list for it's category for a long time. It only works if people take part however, so I would envourage everyone to drop by and do a review or two. You learn as much about writing by doing reviews as you do from reviews of your own work sometimes.

The 'sticky' thread labeled 'Discussion', in the S.D, Circle is now functioning as queue for those interested. Rumple, mab, and I are trying to keep the Circle going in a 'grassroots' way, till KM returns.

Colly, thanks for posting. I too have learned a lot from the Circle.
Still am.

I went there yesterday and was delighted to read TigerSmurf's story. Will try to visit regularly.

story ideas

Hi, I'm new to all this and would like to post a story for a discussion circle, but I'm not sure how...do I post it here, or start another thread. The story is actually already on the site and I have gotten tons of positive feedback so far.
My concern is this: I'm working on part two and many have said that they are anxious to read it. The first part did so well that I don't want to dissapoint anyone! So I would love to have some suggestions for what people would like to see happen in part two.
I'll put the address of my story on here, but if someone could let me know if there is somewhere else that I should post it for ideas, I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
JL

hi k,

The sticky thread that says 'discussion' in the Story Discussion Circle is functioning as a kind of queue. Put your name there, url and story title. When your story is 'up, a thread will be started for comments on it.

It's a 'swap' set-up. So a couple critiques of yours are expected; you might have a look at Lucky's just posted, or Angela's from last week. Each has its own thread.
