Story Collaborations

Sorry if this isn't the right sub-forum to bring this up, but would love to hear from other authors interested in collaborating on stories. There's a link to mine in my signature - tending towards the older man / younger woman dynamic, with some nonconsent/reluctance in some cases.

I think you're posting in the right place.

Most of my collaborations have been with readers who have reached out to me with story ideas they wanted to see written, but they weren't comfortable with their own writing ability. In each of those cases, I was writing and they were providing feedback while I did. I've only collaborated with another author twice.

You might want to see if KeithD has some advice for you. He has had a long-running and very successful collaboration with another author that has produced a slew of good stories.

You are not the first person to make such a request. Some friendly advice: A request like this is most likely to reap the benefit you want if you do two things: first, target authors that you like whose style and favored subject matter seems compatible with yours, and, second, write some stories so THEY can see if you are someone they'd like to collaborate with. Everybody's busy doing their own thing so you have to do a little homework to get people's attention.

Lexx is right that KeithD has partnered with someone successfully, but if I'm not mistaken he'd say the same thing -- it was a partnership where they knew each other's styles and felt they'd be compatible going into it.

Good luck!

Yep, a direct collaborator invitation came as the first step--from one reading the other and thinking, rightly, that their styles and writing topics matched/complemented each other.
