Howdy, all.

I'm writing a new story and hope to have it finished shortly. My question is about what category to put it in.

The basic premise is that two young women fall in love. Sounds simple, right? "Lesbian Sex" and then hit submit. However, as of right now, it's 67 pages long in MS Word and I'm still going. Would this qualify for "Novels and Novellas"? There's also a romance theme, so it could go in that category as well.

I'd just like to head off any "hey, bonehead, wrong category" comments once I submit it.

Any suggestions or feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

AFAIK the general consensus is more than 6 Lit pages (about 24,000 words) then it really should go in the Novellas section :)

Yeah, Novels and Novellas sounds right.

Or you could break it into chapters. Then you could put it into Lesbian Sex.

Yes. Break it up into chapters and put it in Lesbian Sex. You'll get a lot more reads there than in Novellas.

But I have to wonder what you are doing with a story that's 67 Word pages long. That seems sort of excessive. Are you sure you don't want to make it 80,000 words and have it published as a novel elsewhere?

So Novels and Novellas is open to long stories of any genre? That sounds good to me.

I've thought about breaking it into chapters, but I don't know that this story would be good that way. It seems to me that many readers want a beginning, climax (take that any way you choose) and closure to each chapter and this one isn't shaping up to be that way.

Thanks for your suggestions everyone. If you have any more advice, that would be welcome!

I just started writing and writing and that's where it is right now. If I knew a publisher, I'd send it off to them and see if I could get it put in print or into some other outlet.

Don't think you have to have each chapter be a standalone story.

I broke my first submission to Lit into chapters. I just picked a good break point to separate them.

Didn't seem to harm its views, comments and votes.

67 pages? BIG GAG! Best to go with novels. ;)

Lesbian stories are tough. There is one in San Francisco, I believe, however. Black Lace might be interested also.

How tough? I'm trying to do some new things as a writer. I'm writing a lesbian story from the first person perspective and I wonder if people will take that kind of story seriously if they know it was written by a man.

Try this -

Twisted Books
3300 Fresno Place
Schertz TX 78154

They have a website someplace. Eloras Cave is another good guess for on-line publishing.

MMM yeah is the short answer. But why limit yourself? Use a female or androgynous name.

The readers have accepted my Lesbian stories, and asked for more.

And my handle is a tad androgynous...not intentionally.

Just write to the best of your ability, and the authors name will be no barrier to acceptance. :)
