Just wondering about the I/t category.

Obviously incest is what it is, but what exactly might fit into taboo?

I quite like stories about doctors/patients, teachers/college students etc. is that taboo or erotic couplings....

k

The taboo part of that category has pretty much been sublimated by the readers. Taboo could be something like polygamy, but you put that in that category and it doesn't include incest, you most likely will get "hey, what?" comments.

Incest/Taboo is only for incest. Anything non-incest there will get lots of complaints.

Basically, no family relationship, no I/T.

If it's a teacher/student story then the default should be erotic coupling, unless they're both women, in which case it would go to lesbian. But if he's interested in fucking her asshole, you'd get more readers in Anal.

Same applies for doctor/patient.

Well, I am currently extremely irritated with the classification of my latest series as Incest/Taboo. I asked Lauren specifically to put it in Sci-Fi/Fantasy and told her why. She responded by retroactively putting an earlier chapter, which was in Sci-Fi/Fantasy, into Incest/Taboo!

I feel this is very bad form, especially since she didn't have the courtesy to inform me of such a retroactive change.

As Pilot said on lit-and at this point any porn site both written and video has now basically made Taboo synonymous with incest.

In real life a taboo is pretty much doing something society would frown upon because it seen as 'not right' for example sex with an inlaw isn't incest, but its a Taboo. Sex with a longtime friend's spouse would be a taboo....you just shouldn't do it.

Many still see interracial as a taboo....although my personal opinion is the ones that feel that way are racist and have issues against whatever ethnicity is involved. A fifty year old with a twenty year old...etc...

But here its incest and at the least 'step'' incest anything else perceived as a moral taboo is sent to another category or if left in incest will get flamed.

Her site = her rules. In general, if you include a family member when there's sex taking place, it's probably going to wind up categorized as incest. While I'm unsure of the particulars surrounding your story, I'm very sure of this: Her site = Her rules. Sorry.

Well that is all fine and good, but in another thread I was told about another story that was practically all about two sisters in a relationship, and I read it - it checks out, pretty good story too - but it was placed in sci-fi, as requested.

The standards are inconsistent.

Anyway... about the original topic... I think the "Taboo" has been completely subsumed by the "Incest", and it seems to have happened organically. If it's doctor/patient or teacher/student... well, as I have been repeatedly reminded, it's not my site, but if it were, I'd look at the primary dynamic at work. If the power relations are being abused, I'd say it's in non-consent/reluctance. If it's simply an unusual but mutually consensual relationship (albeit frowned upon by "polite" society), I'd maybe put it in erotic couplings? A college professor and a favorite student, maybe...

However, if another kink is being focused on - acrotomophilia, for example - then I'd put it in Fetish. I think that might be the best fit for such stories.

That's the second time recently that a story in what's always been an exempt category has been moved to Incest...

Doesn't make much sense to me. I doubt the readership is complaining about incest in the categories, because they never have. I think it's more likely for the Incest readership to complain about the Sci-Fi Fantasy elements intruding than the other way around.

That's what it comes down to along with the childish, unprofessional 'her site her rules' keep going you'll get 'Don't like it leave' and called a troll.

The story you're talking about I'm assuming is Paco Fear's piece. As for the reason it sayed in sci fi? Its an older story back when the owner was actually far more focused on the stories here rather than her favorite forum hangout and gave it consideration instead of just dumping it in Taboo. Also if you notice it has an E meaning she liked so left it where the writer wanted it.

If I ran across incest in a non-incest category - and I would include some non-blood relationships - I'd complain. It's also one of the few cases I'd downvote, and leave a comment. What little good the categories provide becomes useless if they can't at least filter out common, major turn-offs. I doubt I'm alone in that.

Taboo, suggests things that are not by any way normal like Bestiality which happens but cannot be discussed or written about in here.

I deliberately set out to write a story that included both incest AND non-incest taboo. So I had a mother/son relationship, but the mother was also fucking her priest. And the priest was also fucking his own daughter. I think the priest-taboo and the incest-taboo balanced each other nicely.
