Story cannot be published

I submitted four parts of this series for publication; they're all pending. Then I decided to edit Part One. When I edited it and resubmitted it I got this message and the edits themselves are not showing up. What should I do?

My guess is your edit request coincided with the chapter actually being published.

Wait 24 hours to see what happens - the chapter might be live. Your edit should then work - resubmit the correct text (the whole content), same chapter title plus the word EDIT. Explain in the Note to the Editor what you've done. Edits can take several weeks, they're low priority for the site.

The moral is always to submit the best possible copy you can, and don't touch it once it's in Pending. Every time you do that it goes to the back of the queue - and you run the added risk of chapters being published in the wrong sequence.
