i am interested in anyone's thoughts/comments about a story of an educated woman who is wheelchair bound but has an active sex life. i would be the author of this story and it relates to actual events that i was part of. she agrees to my writing such a story which will probably be several chapters long. i'm not sure if anyone would be offended by such a story. all parties in the story are over 21 so that is not the issue. we've all have or had someone in our family or family friend with a disability so i do not want to cause any emotional pain when published and read. thanks for comments either positive or negative.

Disabled people are just as sexual as non-disabled people. (By the way, 'wheelchair-bound' is considered an ablelist term. A wheelchair is merely a mobility tool, not their whole life.) A well-written story with relatable characters and genuine emotions would not be offensive in the least, quite the opposite actually. Disabled people are pretty much invisible in society - they need representation everywhere, even in erotica. I say by all means bring it on! Good luck and good writing!

PS - I'm an advocate for the disabled and feel strongly about this, even wrote a disabled character story of my own:
The Convertible - Hot Wheels

I think it would be a fine idea for a story, and a chance to show people with disabilities in a positive and sexual light. I don't think most reasonable people would be offended by it.

But.... I'm sure there will be a few zealots who jump down your throat no matter how hard you try to be PC about it. For example, I have heard people get criticized for the phrase "disabled people" like NewOldGuy77 used above, because it "puts 'disabled' first." So, just be ready for some of that kind of flak. But definitely don't let it stop you.

It could be an opportunity to also point out that being "stuck in a wheelchair" isn't necessarily being stuck in a wheelchair.

When I was at my worst, I could only really walk five to eight meters on my own, so if I was going anywhere outside the house, I needed a chair. However, all the sex parts of the body worked perfectly fine. Even just at work, people would get angry if they saw me stand up to reach something, as if being in a chair meant I had to be completely paralysed.

You'll have to work to get it 'right' so I'd suggest getting a beta-reader before publishing. Kumquat queen did a lovely bdsm tale that's worth a look for comparison. There's quite a long list with the 'wheelchair' tag, too.
