A few years ago I began an SRP titled "Stormswept Heights", which never really got off its first steps. Trying it again, it took off for a short while and was some of the most fun I've ever had in an RP. It was over too quickly, just as the story had started. Its been a few years, but my thoughts turn to it once more. I'd like to give it another go and see if there are any takers...

I am looking for serious roleplayers who are interested in quality writing, have time to devote to and love the thread, and are interested in participating in a theme that is akin to a gothic romance novel. The thread is anything goes... the house has a lot of interesting opportunities.

Please do not post until your character has been approved. Provide a brief bio of your character.

This story is set in England, 1805, at a manor estate called "Stormswept Heights". It is the inheritance of the Baron, Sir Edward Martyn, whose only daughter Anne is refusing to marry and provide him with an heir to the barony.

Base Characters:

The Baron, Sir Edward Martyn, 38, New Husband to Lady Martyn, and father of Anne Martyn. His daughter reminds him of his first wife, who he loved well.
(Played by jon_rico)

Annabelle (Anne) Martyn, 18, the wild only daughter of the Baron, quite unruly and unladylike. She is refusing to marry.
(Played by MissVictoria)

The Lady Delilah Aston-Martyn, 34, The widow of Lord Aston who has recently married the Baron, to escape a life of poverty brought on by her dead husband's debts. She does not love him.
(Played by showdolly)

The Lady Martyn's Son - Darcy Aston, 20, a devoted son and brother, and rapier-swinging lady chaser, who is not excited about his mother's marriage.
(Played by Cobra2004)

The Lady Martyn's Daughter - Elsabeth Aston, 18, small of stature but a large personality. More than she seems. Jovial and keenly intelligent, she has refused to take a suitor thusfar.
(Played by caela)

-----

Extra Characters:

Wood Barkley, 37, the non-subservient head gardener whose crass and rough ways are tolerated because he does his job exceptionally well.
(Played by Subo97)

Marie Riggs, 19, a coquettish scullery maid with an optimistic innocence.
(Played by Beethoven'sFire)

Phillipe Bascoigne, 33, Executive Chef of the heights. The blue-eyed frenchman has found an important niche in bringing culture to the estate.
(Played by DJ Wordplay)

Nathaniel (Nate) Turner, 22, an uncomonly intellectual journeyman farrier and jack-of-all trades.
(Played by Armphid)

Henry Rimston, 40, homosexual ex-headmaster and sodomite unwisely hired as a tutour.
(Played by SEVERUSMAX)

Martha Weatherstaff, 45, the head maid who once disinherited a baron.
(Played by Beethoven'sFire)

Katlin McGinley, 18, young Duchess of York, Anne's best friend.
(Played by Blaanid)

Jessie Graven, 22, a stablegirl posing as a man to escape the pains of love.
(Played by decatur)

Servants of any type, you define the characters
Ideas - Stablehands, chambermaids, gardeners

Neighbors, friends or relatives who would frequently visit the heights

-----

"Free-for-All" Characters:

I'm very interested in playing this, but I'll have to see how some things go for me over the next few days - I might not end up having the time. Still, either way I'll be sure to watch this with great interest.

Darcy had just turned 20 when his mother remarried to The Baron, Sir Edward Martyn.
Darcy stood 6' 4" very athletic as he spent most of his time dueling with a fencing master.
He had curly light brown hair just shoulder length. he had a girlish profile as he took after his very beautiful mother.
He had a great sense of humor and didn't offend that easily, He was also a lady chaser, and couldn't never get enough of them.
He was also a very devoted son and brother to his younger sister. He wasn't very happy about his mother remarrying again, but he did understand it and supported her, and approved of the Baron as he only knew by reputation. He loved to ride horses at a neck breaking gallop,

It will probably be a little while before people join you in the IC thread, so hang in there! I was going to ask everyone to wait until the characters were cast to post, but its ok that you posted.

This looks like it could be quite a bit of fun. I'd be interested in picking up the part of Lady Martyn's daughter if I may.

Here's a bio MissVictoria, let me know if it works for you or if it needs tweaking...or if someone pm'd you before I saw the thread and just hasn't posted yet please. :)

Name: Elsabeth Aston
Age: 18
Appearance: At only 5'2 the only word for Elsabeth is "petite". A halo of honey/gold curls tumbles down to her waist when freed from it's usual braid or caul and there are always small curls escaping no matter how she tries to pull it back. Her peaches and cream complexion if a perfect mesh for societies need to dress women in pastels though she does prefer to take her dresses in colors that are just a bit darker than is considered fashionable. Her eyes are a vibrant, almost turquoise, blue and usually sparkling with some sort of merriment.
Personality: What she lacks in stature she makes up for in presence. Elsabeth is sweet and kind and loves nothing better than to laugh and many combine that with her lack of height and end up underestimating her. At first glance she seems just another flighty society girl but upon further inspection it can be found that she is quite intelligent. She's not as unruly as Annabelle but she does turn her nose up at some of societies sillier conventions and like Annabelle has refused any suitors thus far.
Bio: Elsabeth may have grown up somewhat poor but she never truly felt the sting of it. Her mother and brother have always taken good care of her and she's always felt secure and loved in her home life. She's still a bit uncertain about her mother's new husband but chalks her uncertainties up to the fact that she can barely remember her own father and the oddness of suddenly having a father figure thrust into her life when she's already a woman grown.

great memory

I had the privilage of writing the last post for Stormswept Heights as Wood Barkley, the gardener, a role I'd love to reprise. It was one of my earliest threads and I had a great time. I modeled Wood after the gardner in Lady Chatterly's Lover, rough, strong, not at all subservient, observing the goings on at the estate with s jaundiced eye. Let me know if there's room.

I know you have him described as an NPC but if there's the possibility of playing Pickering, I'd like to volunteer.

I would very much love to have you back Subo97, Wood was an awesome character and I didn't get to see as much of him as I would have liked to!

I wasn't sure if any of the original characters were still around. :)

As to Pickering, I'd like to keep him as an NPC... sometimes they are handy to help move things along, so I'd like everyone to be able to use him. I'm sorry! You could create another character along the same lines if you want.

I would be willing to take the role of Edward Martyn if it hasn't been filled.

As a main role, I would like someone who will be very devoted to rping in this thread. If you feel that describes you, then the character is yours. Feel free to post a bio with a bit more about him.

Wood is back

Terrific, I'll post Wood's first appearance tomorrow morning. Great to be back in the 19th century again. :)

I would be very active to this thread. Where would you like to bio posted here or the IC thread?

Name: Marie Riggs
Age: 19
Appearance: A short and curvy young woman, she is perhaps a bit rounder than she should be, but her voluptous figure is still very appealing to most men. Her body is a contradiction to itself, parts of her petite and other parts generous. Her feet are notably small and dainty, while her bosom often spills unashamedly out her bodice. She has dark brown hair which she wears mostoften up in a braid circled around her head, with curly tendrils at the neck.
Bio: Marie moved into the manor at the age of 17, and has been working as a scullery maid for two years. She is pleasant, even in the face of drugery, and an eternal optimist. Despite her womanly figure, she is inexperienced in the arts of a woman, but very flirtatious with the other staff.

Welcome back! ;)

Should I feel ashamed for begging my friends back into this thread? :p

Let me know if I should alter it in anyway.

Name:Baron Edward Martyn
Age: 38
Appearance:
Height: 6'2
Weight: 210 lbs
Body type: Athletic
Eyes:Blue
Hair: Wavy Brown Hair

Edward was a Colonel in the army before he decided he had seen enough blood shed. After being knighted by King George the III for his work in helping defeat the French Edward thought it time to settle down with his family. After the tragic death of his wife he remarried Lady Aston to try to help him get through the troubled times. Edward has been trying to get his daughter to marry so that his name and title will live on through his family. Much to his dismay she has rejected every suitor that has shown interest. His daughter is a free spirit just like her mother every day he sees more of her in Anne.

His new wife is very distant to him often only exchanging pleasantries and then leaving the room. Edward would be persistent however knowing marriages often take time to come together. Edward is a proud and stubborn man set in his ways he grew up with the best of everything education, living styles. In a effort to show his new wife he does truly care he is taking in her children in and giving them the same privileges that he gives his daughter.

Of course not! No shame in wanting friends and writers around that you have enjoyed writing with in the past!

Caela I hope this doesn't sound odd but I have read some of your other threads and am honored to write with you in this thread.
