Yes, I prefer stories to stick close to reality also. It injects believability into the story allowing you to really get into the character and story. Some of the NC and bondage stories I began to enjoy ruined it by going over the top with the humiliation thing, (forced piss drinkng or the like) breaking the spell of the story for me.

I feel the same way. Not that some of the scenes are not realistically done. (I have been involved in a few off the wall scenes myself) It's just that I don't dig the humiliation aspect all that much. I hardly ever indulge in that sort of play with my own petlings (past or present). To read about it, kind of pisses me off. Especially when it is written in such a way as to leave one unsure if that is what sub/slave really wanted.

I think humiliation can be done in a good way IF it progresses the story. Just throwing it in for no reason? That just sucks and turns the story into quick jerk material.

(I guess that's just me, though)

And I wouldn't say there's anything unrealistic about it. It's happened to me more than once. That makes it realistic from my perspective at least.
