Stories vs Poems - reader interests?

I enjoy writing both stories and poems. My stories get much more reads than the poems and difference is significant in all cases. For example, some of my stories get 13,000 reads in first several weeks and my poems get 100-200 over same period. Perhaps my poems suck. Is this just me or is this general readership pattern?

It's the general readership pattern. People come here to read stories and get off on them. You very rarely find a poem that you can actually get off to. It's the audience.

Can one get off on a grammatically correct story? Doesnt the flavor of the people involved need to be in the story. I think it does.

grammar

true, but for me (personally) the grammar/wording is important as well. everybody makes mistakes but reading a story full of grammatical and spelling mistakes isnt much fun either - esp. when you find yourself trying to decipher a word when you should be working on your orgasm :D
