One of the joys I have in writing is challenging myself to step out of my comfort zone and really get to grips with imagining something or someone or a situation which I wouldn't normally. It can be quite a vivid experience.

I wouldn't say I have necessarily discovered a kink I didn't have, but, for example, I have discovered situations I never would have chosen as being sexy that, when I actually challenge myself to examine it, I suddenly really like.

An example would be erotic stories set in a past historical era. Once I would have had zero interest: now I think they can be very arousing.

I wouldn't say that I "couldn't get enough of it" but I know what you mean. I just don't feel like specifying them in AH. They are scattered across the various stories I have published here and elsewhere, sort of "hidden in plain sight."

I just like writing what I like. I have no desire to try the "I'm not really into -fill in the blank-but let me try to write about it anyway. I don't see that as a challenge, I see it as a waste of time I could have spent writing what I enjoy. I'm not demeaning the people who do that, just stating how I feel about it. Interesting question. Yes, definitely, I can think of one. Sir Nathan's story "Culture Shock," published here in 2006, is a 36-page slow-burn tale of how a college student meets a man online and gets drawn into the world of being a submissive. I don't think I'd had any exposure to BDSM at all before that story. What makes the story so interesting is that it's all about the seduction, not the actual BDSM practice. That might make it disappointing to some, but I liked it. I've been interested in BDSM as a fantasy subject ever since, and I would not have written my first story, In the Hallway, which also is about how two people get seduced by the BDSM process, if I had not read that story. If you are interested in the subject matter generally, I recommend it, although give yourself some time because, as I say, it's well over 100,000 words, the length of a full novel.
