Hi,

I posted this in another section, but I was told I would have more luck here. (Sorry if I'm being repetitive...I'm new to the message boards and I'm still trying to get familar with them.)

Anyway, I had my story posted on the site for a while now (Forbidden Feelings), and last week, monday I believe I posted edits to all the chapters that were up as well as posting a new chapter. I know it takes a while to post, but on friday, nothing was there. Even my older ones were gone, taken off the site.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? As far as I know, they were all within the guidelines, as I read over them to make sure. I'm hoping it was just a glitch. Does anyone know more about it than I do?

Thanks.

That is indeed strange.

Your stories haven't just been rejected after the fact, they've been deleted. I was able to find the links through Google, and they go to the "oops, can't be found" page rather than the "awaiting approval" page that shows up when something has been rejected, but is still in the database.

When you submitted your edits, did you perhaps submit delete requests for the originals, followed by a second submission for edits?

It may be that the delete requests were processed, and then when the edit requests bubbled up in the queue, there was nothing there to edit, if that's the way you went about it.

The only other reason I can think of that something would be deleted is plagiarism, and numerous accounts from people show that the site usually contacts the author first before deleting the stories, to see if there's any explanation ( such as using a different pen name here than you did when posting the story on another site )

So, since you're baffled, I find the second unlikely.

I figured if it was rejected I would have been contacted. I'm really thinking it is just a glitch or something like your first suggestion. I re-submitted chapters 1 and 2 together yesterday, so hopefully they will be up by tues or wed. I'm not going to do all at once because I want to see if I can figure out the issue.

Thanks for your help.

Well, that wouldn't really be a glitch, it would be human error.

Hard to say what happened. Suffice to say, if your resubmitted chapters are approved, then the deletion happened without the site purposely deleting the stories for rules violations and such.

May just have to chalk it up to "What the hell?" and move on. I'll file this away in the back of my head, and if I see anything similar reported, it may be time to send out feelers and contact the site owners to look for a major problem.

Well if you think that is odd here is one for you to sink your teeth into! Go the 12th annual awards and go to sexiest male. Click on the last entry "Look what the cat dragged in" it goes to a page that says "oops" and a second later sends you to Lit's home page.

the link to my story as well as Jaz Cullin's and Doctor Wolf's story all work. I noticed this the day the voting began and after seeing this thread checked it again. It is still doing it.

Report the post via the report post button and say that the link is bad when prompted. It should get fixed in short order.

Actually, I'll go do that now. Slip of the fingers when Laurel was typing in the URL. Happens all the time.

Actually II: I'll just make use of the discussion thread, since it's sitting there idle.

So that was a typo? Now does that mean that person's story was erased period or is just the contest link bad? This could explain why that story has only one vote, people can't go to it. Surprised the author themselves didn't notice.

Copy paste error, actually. The url ends in xxx instead of a Lit ID#, as it should. There's been one or more of those in every year end contest I can remember. When you have to enter 5 URLs X all the categories + special categories, and do so as quickly as she tries to get them up once she starts posting, the law of averages pretty much ensures it.

Sure what you said. Copy paste is just about the extent of yours truly's knowledge of computer lingo. But that'll be good if she sees and fixes it soon.
