Stories Getting Worse

Each time i come to Literotica.com, it seems the stories get more dull, lifeless and less plot than ever before.
Wake up writers, get an editor, fix missing words (if you can find them)
The stories look like some shit you read in the Sunday paper, no body talks in the story until they are ready to cum or the thing is over.
And worst of all, who picks the (HOT & EDITORS PICK) MY GOD, misspelling, no plots, missing words, no story line. How much do you have to pay to have your story picked?

Dear Idiot,

Learn English, then you can complain about our writing. Your post was one of the most misspelled, grammatically confusing bits of writing I've read all day.

Sincerely,
A Writer

bad stories

PISS OFF, HE OR SHE IS RIGHT. BAD STORIES......
it seems the writers make up srories, post them without any advice or editing.

EDITING

I will be glad to help anyone that needs help with editing.

A+editor girl (just look under editors)

yah! al them storys suk! the spelng sucks! the gramr sucks! i want my monee back!

Well.

E's are all Laurel's doing. Those are the stories that she likes. That's it, nothing more to it than that, it's not the academy awards, you know.

H's are all readers' doing. Those are the stories that have a cummulative vote total of more than ten votes and a score higher than 4.50. That means that the readers who cared to vote for the story gave it high marks.

If you don't like the stories here, you're more than welcome to let individual authors know all about it through feedback forums and anonymous email. Blanketly stating that ALL stories suck is basically putting your most ignorant side forward. It's statistically improbable that all of the 50 plus stories posted on any given day all suck to that extent. It's statistically improbable that you've read all of the 50 plus stories, that translates into 350 plus stories a week, posted.

If you don't like something, please feel free to tell the world, but specifics will get you much farther than generalizations and blanket condemnation. Of course, people will feel free to disagree with you.

stories

Hi All,

Tough croud today. The only thing I can see wrong with a lot of the stories, is..... when it is like reading a news paper. That makes me run to the next story so fast my eyes burn. And a lot of spelling, and for some odd reason, MISSING WORDS. I read one a while back that seemed to be missing every other word.

I know when i first started posted to this site, i was all alone in my writing with no help editing or people to read for me. but, now I have some great friends that help me a lot. Christa, Ken and Emma just to name a few. ( I had to put thier names in )

I hope my stuff is easy on the eyes, i sure do try my best. I'm disabled and home 24/7 unless a friend helps me go shopping or to the doctors office. I do ride my electric wheelchair to the mail box. So, i have lots of time to think up stories and to write them.

The last few months I started getting some bad migraines and that sure has slowed me me down on my writing. Trying all kinds of new drugs just isn't my idea of a good time.

About the membership fee. can you take it out of my winnings when i win the story of the month?

My next story should be the one that takes first place. ( I hope )

Thank You,
L.A.W. Larry

I can't do that Laurel

Then I'd have to return your panties as well.

I take responsibility for unrejistrd. Gawd, I love my sense of humor. LOL. What, you didn't laugh? *sniffles*

LOL! I should've known...it was too perfect of a post. "the gramr sucks!" I did laugh, if I have to admit it, but now with you...tee hee... BTW, the only way you're returning my panties to me is by putting them back on me...

To seriously address the point of this thread: Part of what's kinda cool about Literotica is that it allows amateur writers to publish their work for an audience. I do some editing, but I do not polish every story. If I did, then 1) the writer wouldn't have the flaws in his or her writing pointed out to him or her; and 2) there's no way I could get through 50-80 stories a night.

If you see a story with flagrant grammar/spelling errors, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take 5 seconds of your time to write the author a quick note suggesting that he or she seek help with our Volunteer Editor program. I've got editors writing me all anxious because no one is contacting them. We have editors in the program who are Literature students, who are professional editors & writers, who have special knowledge of different kinks and fetishes.

There's also a library of excellent essays and how-to's in the Writer's Resources area. All writers should check out that section - good info there!

With all that's available, there's no excuse for atrocious grammar and spelling. Many authors are not aware of the tools provided to them. Once they're aware of them, the vast majority WILL use them to improve the quality of the story they submit. By taking a bit of your time to nudge them in the right direction, you're making the site that much more enjoyable for you. You're also helping make this world a more literate place, which is a wonderful thing.

Thanks to all, readers and writers, for making my days so fun! ;)

For the person who started this thread, I would ask that if you read a story that you feel can be improved upon, contact the author. I know when I receive feedback I really pay attention to it. If a reader took enough time to go to that point and write something, the least I can do is read it and take it to heart.

Also, I cannot stress Laurel's points enough. When I wrote my first story for Literotica, I was tempted to just submit it. Instead I sent it to 3 editors. This helped do a couple of things:

1. It established a "cooling off" period. I would look at the story each day, and become a little more detached from it, and see things that needed to be changed or improved.

2. I received valuable feedback from the editors on readability and grammar, that I think helped my story.

Editors are free - what a bargain! And the ones I've worked with have gotten back to me within 3 days with their feedback - and this even over a holiday weekend!

There is a wealth of information here at Literotica to help people write the best they can. I, for one, am appreciative of all the resources that have been made available.

Thanks Laurel, and all the editors, for making the experience of writing erotica a fun experience!

Hi all,
Here is my two pence worth(A Brit you see).I posted a story last week and had thirty feedbacks.Twenty nine saying how great it was and a one liner. The one line(One word really)was"Pathetic".Who was right? The 29 or the 1?Different strokes for different folks.I don't submit my stories to an editor as I have found 7 inch penis translates to 10 inch penis and my 34 A breasts come back as 38DD.Perhaps I chose the wrong editor methinks.I average about 4.3 on the scores but have had feedback that would make your toes curl. You work it out.I also spell colour, catalogue and other words in my own Brit style.

actually, KM gave herself away here because even though her spelling's atrocious, her grammar is fine (well, except for "them," and even that's fine if you're writing in NSE dialect.)

sincerely,

My stories were all requested at other sites and other publishers. That is the only measuring stick for a writer or an artist.

A few years ago, it was easy to be recogized here, now it is the Matrix.

prove the worth of your stories... show us all your wonder... share your stories here or provide a link... I dare you to prove your bravado... show us , the 'fallen' your might.

I've edited a few stories. Some writers really need to get a good editor (or two) then i have others that don't need much in that department.
I don't know if it's because they're afraid of criticism or what that people skip having their story edited.
I just finished writing my first story and of course I think it's great but I'm starting to look for an editor in case it isn't as great as I think. I want it to be a good story and if an editor can help, great!!

I've never ever had an editor comment on something of mine and not have it be worthwhile. Even the smallest contribution, like the addition of a needed comma, is valued. But then again, I'm a perfectionist. This site is no different than life. Some people care more about certain things than others. Some of us care greatly about the quality of the stories we both read and write. Other people don't. Que sera sera.

Look, NONE OF US,(besides me,;) )are Stephen King material. I don't think any Nobel Prizes are gonna be awarded. People make mistakes. To Unregistered,

I'd LOVE for you to submit a story that's FLAWLESS!!!!!!!!! I, for one, won't EXPECT worse. On the other hand, if it's 3.5, or worse, EAT YOUR WORDS, AND SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!!!!!!!!

ah, wait, whoa ... what?

3.5 is a bad score?
My one story is currently averaging a 4.18 last I checked, so I'd still be ok. Still, I thought 3 qualified as average!

I was being sarcastic. I was TRYING to get Unregistered off are asses.

First time writer...

I have never written a story in my life much less one of the erotic nature. This was all new to me and my fear was the thing that prevented me from submitting it to an editor first. I didn't think I would have the nerve to actually submit it for post if I didn't do it right away.

So for those of us running on fear...give us a break and hopefully most of us will learn from our mistakes. I know that I will...

Also, on a site like this there is something for everyone. Sometimes it does take me some time to find a story that I really like. It then becomes a matter of whether you are willing to take the time to find that something or if you are only into instant gratification.

Sorry all I forgot to log in before I tried to post; I'm still new to all of this. So I have come forth to identify myself...
