I've read through the submission guidelines, and didn't see a rule against this, but I wanted to ask those of you who know more about writing for Lit than I do.

I have several short stories I've posted on FetLife that I would like to also submit to Literotica. Is this allowed?

I also have some short stories and novellas that were published and are now out of print. I hold all rights to them. I'm not interested in self-publishing them (marketing is a weakness for me; I'd rather not self-publish anything if I can help it), but I would like them to see the light of day again. They were published under a different pen name, but if I make a note of that fact and that I hold the rights, is it permissible to submit those to Lit?

Aside from whether there are rules against it, is it a good idea to submit stories that have been published/posted elsewhere?

As far as Literotica is concerned, you can do what you want with your stories. The other site may have different rules, but Lit don't ask for exclusive rights, so you can republish, sell, take down (though you can't do that yourself), change, smoke or whatever you want with them.

Is it allowed to post stories on Literotica that you have already posted elsewhere?

Yes.

But - If you used a different identity elsewhere you could be accused of plagiarism. If Lit readers have already seen the story they might vote it down, perhaps. An Author's Note at the start could avoid that.

What you grant to Literotica is a non-exclusive right to publish here.

The other sites(s) might have different rules. If you have published on a site that gives you money for stories they might object to you putting it on a free-to-view site.

Thanks, both of you.

The other site on which I have stories is FetLife, which isn't a story site. People can post blog-type posts, or stories, or whatever on their profile, but they can do whatever else they want with them. So I'm not running afoul of any rules on that end, either. And I use the same name there that I do here.

The only stories I've had published for pay weren't posted anywhere; they were published as e-books by various digital publishers. Those publishers are either out of business now or have released me from my contracts, so they don't have any rights to the stories anymore and I can do what I want with them. And none of the stories are available anywhere else unless they've been pirated. Ogg, good point about putting an author's note at the beginning. Thank you.

Love Fetlife, people are so nice there but definitely not a story site. Much better to publish here, but beware you need thick skin if you wish to engage others on this site. Are you still on Fetlife? I had to leave because of a stalker but boy do I miss Bow4U. If you're still on there can you say Miss Kat says hi? Does this violate Lit rules? Unintentional if it does.

Thanks for the caution. I already have a few stories on Lit under this name, and somewhere over 100 under my old pen name, so I definitely have the necessary thick skin. I want my Fet stories to have a wider audience, which is why I want to post them here, but I'd also be leaving them on there because a few people there actually read what I post.

Thanks. I only started posting stories on there late last spring, so I don't know if that was before you left.

I've got most of my stories on 9 or 10 different sites. If the goal is to give your stuff the opportunity to be in front of as many eyeballs as possible, there's plenty you can do.
