Stories copied to PornBB site

Hi everyone,

A couple times a year I do a little google search to see if any of my stories have been copied to other sites. This time around I discovered that a porn bulletin board, PornBB, has copied lots of Lit stuff over. One person copied one of my stories twice, as well as another. I also saw one of Selena Kitten's, and I presume many other Lit authors are there.

I emailed the BB "owner" but then I noticed that the person doing the copying is also a Moderator of the site, so it doesn't bode well.

Anyway, I will follow the regular procedure of contacting Lauren, but I was both letting other authors know that this might have occurred with your story and also wondering if anyone else has dealt with this particular site before. (A search didn't turn up another thread.)

Any other advice is always welcome. I only care about this because I want to be able to edit or remove my stories if needed.

I've just spent some time going through the stories they have over there. If you have a story in especially reluctant or incest, you need to go check cause they've got them all, more or less.

I registered and informed the head moderator who has the site name as a handle of the stolen stories. Most if not all were posted by the story board moderator. I'm off to let L & M know.

Send a PM to Laurel. Word is she's aggressive about this type of thing.

Been done. But everyone needs to check for their own stories so Mama Kitty will know how much chewing she needs to do. :D

Good. I've tried googling "jomar" and "jomar erotica" and variations and come up with lot of irrelevant stuff. Maybe I should try story titles. Your name is pretty unique so you probably have better luck.

Whaddayaknow! I got a hit on "Chase Cooder." Mama Kitty, here I come.

Google first lines too. Titles can be changed.
On the story of mine they stole they condensed the opening so lines from the middle of the story might be better for this bunch.

Got a reply from Mama Kitty and she's sicing Manu on them as we speak....

My name is not that unusual according to Google. The Texas Radiation Association uses the same name and there are pages and pages and pages. *sigh*

Just googled a couple of lines from the middle of a couple of my stories and nothing except Lit came up - Guess I'm not popular enough to be plageurised ! :D

Yeah but just think of all the money you could make if you had two...

Yeah, but just think of how embarrassing it would be to report to the police that one of them was stolen...

"And how many of them did you have this morning, Mr. Alien?"
"Two, officer."
"And how many of them do you need, Mr. Alien?"

Yeah, I'm sometimes ambivalent about the ones where an actual person seems to enjoy the story so they copy it to another forum. For instance, one story has a Vietnamese-American heroine, and someone copied it to a Viet bulletin board with nice comments. That's kinda cool; I'm all into a story of mine being shared between people who enjoy it. However, if I ever want to remove the thing, it needs to be in a central location; i.e, Lit. I guess I'd rather they share with a link.

I would wonder how you didn't know it had been stolen when it was happening, I mean, if someone was yanking on it to tear it off....

Not good enough to be stolen just yet, but I did find out that my stories are in a few Lit members favorites section. Go me! :cathappy:

I Just did a random search on a a line from one of my stories and about half a dozen sites came up, most of which have not only annoyingly copied the story but done it in such a bad way as to destroy the formatting and scramble some of the lines making it virtually unreadable. I don't mind so much my story being taken but please don't make me look like a bad writer in the process.

At least they don't have my name on.

*nod*
That's what I found so far as well. Two different pages that come up on Google as Escort Profiles (bound4love.com and escortsearch.us) have most, if not all, of one story all out of order.

*slipping off to check on others*

I don't know whether to feel relieved or left out LOL - None of mine have been taken. Oh well :)
