One thing that I find funny is the loving wife category. I’m getting hate email from some readers. This question is for those who write group stories, are you getting the same type of negative feedback as the loving wife category? What about Gay?

Loving Wives readers are unique.

Whatever you write for them will offend a large minority who have a different view of Loving Wives from whatever your story suggests.

I was mean to them. I wrote about a loving supportive wife who had sex only with her husband. The feedback was violent...

I'm going to work hard on my 2-couples stories (not swapping or swingers, guess the stories would fall under poly), and curious to hear what type of feedback the group category is getting.

people hate LW stories, yet they love to read them!

Ah, the bane of LW  It's the shark infested waters of Literotica. I have not written for that category--but I have seen the carnage.

What you're getting is typical and you can expect to get more. It's not necessarily a bad thing, as it's a popular category and you'll get a lot of readers and comments. But LW readers are rather like food critics. In most other categories you're lucky if you get one comment telling you what you "ought" to have done in the story. In LW, that's the standard. The LW readers make demands of the writers at length, e-mail them pages of feedback, and leave long comments--sometimes defending the story fiercely, sometimes spitting venom at it and the author, often arguing with each other as well. It's quite amazing. A psychiatrist would have a field day.

Enjoy.

I've not actually posted much here at Lit, but the few I've posted under Lesbian, I've gotten a couple of severely negative feedbacks from trolls who just want to tell me that because I think about Lesbian sex, I'm headed on the straight path to hell.

(Perhaps because I partake in Lesbian sex maybe I'm a slow winding path? :D)

I've never gotten anything but lovely feedback on stories in the group category or any other category I've written in for that matter. Though, I've never written an LW story. From everything I've heard, I think Og is right about Loving Wives having a unique audience. ;)

I've gotten a lot of positive feedback on the group sex category. . . but only with males and females playing together.

I have read negative feedback from some group sex stories where some FMMF play. . . people ripped into the writer because it wasn't placed in gay male. . .Should it have been? I don't know. . . it was still group sex, too.

When I have a story that covers a lot of different categories, it usually goes into group, but with an author note stating what is in the story. . .

My story "A Slut Named Carrie" was a story like that. . . Here's the disclaimer. lol... and it was put in Group sex.

Author's Note: This is not a romance. The following contains MF, FFFF, Mature, Anal, Interracial, Exhibition/Voyeur, spanking, masturbation, fetishes, and "blinks" of different races and acts of sex. If any of this offends you, don't read. Comments are welcomed, but only those that leave comments that are worthy of being read are kept. If you wish to bash the work and not offer constructive criticism in a respectful way, then expect your comment to be deleted. This story was entered in the 2006 Nude Day Contest, please vote if you feel the need, but above all enjoy this very naughty write that isn't my usual style, but I had fun. ~ Red

I've had a couple of stories in group and have gotten some great feedback from them...I've also found them to have some of my highest number of reads...Lol...that's one of the reasons I went with that as part of my initial concept for one of my Halloween stories...

I've posted in Celeb, Incest, nonhuman and Erotic Couplings with all good feedback, except for some people complaining about my poor (nonexistant :p ) editing on my first few stories. Once I started editing my work I have had nothing but praise.

Very few stories fit only one category

The category thing is a bit weird, really. Very few stories are 'clearly' in just one category; most have aspects of at least one more. For example, my recent story Catriona
http://english.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=279442
is mainly a romance, so I posted it as a romance; but it also has a side portion of BDSM and soupcon of non-consent. But I got one response saying it was in the 'wrong category' because it had 'no romance'.

You cannot please them all. Some of our audience are barely literate and if an idea accidentally wandered into their heads it would rapidly perish from loneliness and lack of nourishment. All you can do is cast your bread on the waters and hope that some people who read it will appreciate it.

Most of the stories I've posted have been in the Humor Catagory. The people who read there are both limited in number and pretty forgiving, because the Catagory is much more "wide open" than the others.

I have posted in Sci-Fi too. Those people are quite decerning, except about half of them don't know the difference between Sci-Fi and Fantasy and each side defends his position for or against you with venom.

Erotic Horror is always a good Catagory to post in. The stories are pretty good but the readers are a little strange. You sometimes get feedback that makes no sense at all.

I posted one story in Loving Wives. Those people are viscious. At one point the story was at 2.0... now it's up to 4.00. Oddly, even at a 2.00 the feedback was positive

I'd say group was the right category. You would've been ripped in the gay category for having women in your story. I write bi group stories and haven't had negative feedback, but I think this is mostly due to my description being really clear about the story being bi. :)

A lot of my stuff is just Erotic Couplings...The number of stories there tends to keep the readership lower as people have to weed through for your story...You need a really good tag to catch it...

I've really enjoyed writing in both NonHuman and Sci-fi/Fantasy...The best way to get positive feedback in those is to come up with something novel...

and of course, Nonerotic gets almost no readers *sigh*

Well that just begs for an obvious question: if they think that you are going to hell for writing about Lesbians, what in the world were they doing READING it?

Oh, please, darling, you know the answer to that!

personally, I'll divorce my characters rather than put a story into the L.W. category...

Yes, I know. But I couldn't help but point it out. It makes me feel better about myself to point out others' hypocricies, lol. :p

Ok, I just took some time to read the comments on new Loving Wives stories...and have been successfully convinced to NEVER, EVER write a LW story!

I have written stories in both categories...LW received high reads and high vote count, a lot of ones and venemous feedback. Along the lines of "sick bastard".

Group on the other hand also had a high read count and vote count but the feed back was pleasant compared to LW.

Even thought I had a lot of negative votes and feedback on my LW stories they all eventually achieved an 'H' over time.

My group stories had the 'H' from the beginning.

(P.S. I have since pulled those stories from the sight for editing.)

Y'all knew I was going to post on this one, didn't you? I think LW is a great place to post stories under certain circumstances. First, you need to be really confident about your writing. Some of the comments you get will be incredibly detailed (I've told the story several times about the 6300 word comment I received). The readers will often be reasoned, intelligent, and very insightful with these comments. Unfortunately, if they don't like the story, the comments can be unnerving. This doesn't count the really mean ones (there are a bunch of those).

Second, you should be passionate about what you write. As someone who's read at least 1/2 of the stories in that category, I know what the readers like and dislike. I started with my first story there and still got annhiliated. Luckily, it spurred me to write my second there as well, which was greeted with very high scores and excellent feedback (and really, really mean feedback  ). When I finally wrote a Romance story, I was utterly shocked to receive all positive comments. It was good for the ego, but constructive criticism is always good too.

Third, do you want to get known? I was able to get a fairly large readership (each of my LW stories sits around 40,000-50,000 views per chapter) quickly. It helped me get more reads on my two non-LW stories. I might have lost that goodwill because of my long dry spell without completing a story, but I still get emails asking when I'm going to write another one. It's humbling to know that people like you work enough to ask why you haven't written anything else.

Fourth, did I mention the flack jacket and helmet? :D

You must think about how strange it is to see people who willingly log on to a sex cite and moralise others. Smacks of hypocrisy to me.

Yes, I love it when I get the emails about my morals from the folks who read my stories. . .

I do have a four Loving Wives Stories. . . 2 are Hot and 2 aren't, so I'm thinking that's cool with me. Mine aren't the typical LW stories though. When I first started writing here, I wrote a cheating wife story, but put it in Erotic Couplings. . .I didn't know Loving Wife meant cheat on your husband with/without his knowledge, I learned later that it did, but I got only a few negative comments for placing my Met on the Net stories in the "wrong" category.

My LW stories. . . the hub/wife is with another and the other partner is aware. . .all except one and they were some fucked up circumstances.

Never done an LW story. Kinda doubt I ever will.

My worst trolling though was my one NonConsent/Reluctance piece. I left all the troll comments up. They're funny. :D
