Hey creative writing folk,

I tried writing a story about the first of the following ideas but I'm not very good. Here they come:

  1. Two female roommates living in a house inherited by grandma find magic hoola-hoop-rings that can transform people in different ways (clothing, body features, sex, vanish, ...). They experiment with them and have sex as hetero couple. The transformations are arousing, even orgasmic. The rest of the storyline is missing, maybe a boyfriend could become involved and transformed too.

  2. A woman discovers that she can transform men into glass statues and back. She experiments with using them as her glass-dildo-sex-toys. Maybe they can feel and remember what being transformed felt like?

  3. A couple receives a package containing a shiny magic cloth that can vanish and transform people. They do erotic experiments using it on each other, then create a magic show and become famous in Vegas.

  4. A hypnotist finds out he / she can alter the bodies of other people / transforming them in different ways using magic powers hidden in everybody by hypnotising them into releasing their own magic under her control. He / she uses it for sexy body alterations and for turning them temporarily into objects (e.g. dildos / vibrators / fleshlights etc.)

  5. (non magic) A guy loving sexy male underwear visits a underwear store. They have a sexy new sale apprentice, who is encouraged by her elder colleague to "practise" on her client and lets him model a range of sexy stuff. She gets aroused by the newly found visual stimuli - even more when he becomes stiff - and cant't resist touching him. She finally lets him fuck her while still wearing different items of the store's collection.

Feel free to PM!

Transformations really aren't my bag, but magic/hypnotism intrigues me.

The first point I'd mention is that your "hula hoop" concept sounds good, but a little too "all encompassing." Magic isn't limitless when it's attached to an object. It's not infinite, not intuitive, and not intelligent. It seems like you are suggesting that each hula hoop can do many different things. If you whittled down your concept that each hoop can do only one type of magic, then I think your story would be on more solid ground.

The problem with describing any type of "magic" is that people try to imbue their story with "god-like" powers. While you can do anything you want, it doesn't create conflict, it eliminates effort and growth, therefore, the story is "thin."
Think of Disney's "Aladdin's lamp." The genie is helpful, friendly and all-powerful. With the exception that genie is restrained by the lamp, the wishes are infinite. It also has "villains" but the villains are weak, and all the power is on the side of good. Even the magic carpet is intelligent to act on it's own and is imbued with human characteristics. It is based on the concept of "I want" because it caters to children.
Now, consider the "Wishmaster" series, which is based on the same concept. The djinn are a near-omnipotent creature of chaos. It's evil and self serving. As soon as you uncork the bottle, you have conflict. It is restrained only by it's ability to look for loopholes in any wish it grants, and there is payment due when someone wishes for something through pride or avarice. "Pure" wishes have the least chance of backfiring, eg: wishing better for someone else. There is also a limit to how many wishes are to be granted. The djinn are nigh-omnipotent, but they are crazy-arrogant, and while immortal, they can feel pain. People are selfish and foolish, which is how the djinn manages to gain the upper hand. However, the djinn are arrogant, with a dire lust
to escape their imprisonment, which is how they are overcome. Each is undone by their own motivations, and there, again, you have conflict. The djinn is not restrained by only doing what the wishmaster wants. It's perverted and will affect all it can, to seek making the wishmaster waste their wishes. Through growth and wisdom, the wishmaster overcomes the djinn.

In your hula-hoop story, there should only be one hula-hoop for each task. One hula hoop changes female to male, while another reverses that. Do they have all the hula-hoops at once? No! and thereby conflict. Change is fun, but permanent changes aren't. When something is as convenient as flipping a switch, then there isn't a challenge.

There must be adversity, or the story comes across like a children's fantasy.

Your woman who can change men into glass is similar to a gorgon story. But in that story, the gorgon is feared, it's ugly, and nobody wants to have sex with it. Perhaps what you need to do is have your woman capable of transforming herself into each man's deepest desire. From her less than appealing self, into whatever vision of loveliness he beholds. However, her glamour only lasts so long, and she transforms back right after she transforms him into glass. Yes, she can transform him into glass, but does she want him when he is limp, or raging hard? She must make him hard quickly, before her glamour runs out! Then she can transform him into glass, but even that transformation is temporary, before he reverts into flesh and bone. There you have the challenge, the conflict. But where is the growth? Perhaps, it's a spiritual journey. Perhaps, it's not that she willfully transforms into everyman's fantasy, but transforms without thinking about it? Her journey is to find the man who wants her for herself. Not that she is repugnant, but she is never accepted for being who she is.
Perhaps, it's a curse that every man she wants to have sex with, becomes transformed into glass at the moment of his climax. She hopes that the next won't transform, that they can consummate their lovemaking together.
Twist ending, maybe she finds the one who doesn't transform, only to find out he too has been cursed!

The magic cloth, I'll have to think on...

I thought I had an idea for the hypnotist, but ...no. That was even more lame now that I read what I wrote.

The non-magic story is a little puzzling. The guy likes MALE sexy underwear, so he goes to the store where a FEMALE models male underwear for him???

Magic has to come from someplace. Objects can be used endlessly, but limited in scope. Magic can come from within, and thereby may seem limitless, but are limited by the willpower to enact it. It should require effort.

To move an rock up a hill, should take as much willpower effort as it does with a strong back and muscle. More-so, it's not just willpower alone, but self-discipline to not become distracted.

Wands, are not imbued with limitless power, but are like a lens to help focus the power that is already within each person.

Hey LWulf,

thanks so much for your differentiated comments!

Actually, in the two chapters I tried to write, that IS the concept - they find different hoops with different capabilities and try them out one after another, the changes are NOT permanent - therefore a "Cinderella"-Problem arises, when making yourself beautiful etc.

Perhaps, it's not that she willfully transforms into everyman's fantasy, but transforms without thinking about it? Her journey is to find the man who wants her for herself. Not that she is repugnant, but she is never accepted for being who she is.

No, he is a shy guy-type who discovers his exhibitionist side. She likes that and encourages him!

Thanks so much for your time!

This is a classic trope in older vampire stories. The desire to consummate the relationship conflicts with the peril of doing so.

I've also read various stories where being turned into a statue is the erotic focus. There's a word for this... Agalmatophilia, perhaps. See also Pygmalion and Galatea.

Really? I didn't realize classic vampire stories had sex in them?!? It's an erotic focus to change into a statue? I just don't get that, but then I don't get the whole; enjoy being eaten (vore) concept either.

There are strange things "out there" (TM), some of which I really like, some I "don't get" (to quote you) either . Here are a few links:

With ‘Transforming magic hula hoops’ that feel awesome & sexually arousing to use - this could be the ‘truth’ behind incubus/succubus myths. Highly sexualized shapeshifters by themselves could be very fun to write.

Want more complexity? Maybe these ‘hula hoops’ are the mouths of one or more beings that are the only bits that show up in our space/time. Extra dimensional, temporal shift, metaverse, dreamlands, whatever - that’s the ‘borehole’ these beings use to tap our world’s resources. And what resources are those?

Orgasms.

These things make short term links with those they transform, and any orgasms these transformations lead to feed the beastie. As they haven’t fed in a while, the transformations are simple to start. Bigger bust, fitter bodies, more sensual, more manipulative, that kind of thing. As time goes by & orgasms feed the beastie, more options/powers become possible.

For a happy tale, that could be plenty, but for a darker one maybe the beastie takes over the transformed human over time. This could be due to power buildup, a little of the link persisting from transform to transform, loss of self/soul/will, the beastie waking up, cosmic/astrological alignments, etc, but the net effect is the more one uses the rings, the more potent one becomes, and eventually one gets lost in it & the beast takes over. Which then sets up a helluva dilemma once the characters become aware of the risks/problems - how far are you willing to risk it to transform, & how do you deal with others that either transform more or try to force you to stop.
