Ok, Really it's just Mad-Libs for poetry. Know what a Mad-Lib is? It's a word game where you name word types like Noun, Verb, or Funny Noise, etc. Your choices are used to replace the original words in some original writing (in this case a poem) to create a new poem that is well silly, stupid, or maybe even brilliant depending on how it all works out.
Here's the rules:
1. I (or whomever) posts a list of word types needed, like so--
1. adjective
2. plural noun
3. past tense verb
4. name of famous poet
and so on....
2. You (or whomever) supply the answers, like so--
1. eyebrows
2. pasted
3. gnarly
4. Wicked Eve
and so on...
3. I (or--well you get the idea--I don't want to be the only one, lol) post the poem I chose with your new words replacing the originals, like so--
SHE WALKS IN BEAUTY by Lord Byron (Verse 1)
She walks in beauty, like the night
Of gnarly climes and starry skies;
And all that`s best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyebrows:
Thus pasted to that tender light
Which Wicked Eve to gaudy day denies.
4. We laugh (most likely), say "whoa, brilliant new poem" (highly unlikely), or roll our eyes and say "Angeline!" (pretty likely). Oh and the original poet shakes her head or rolls in his grave as the case may be.
5. One poem at a time please.
Hey it's the holidays, almost--a great time for a little mindless fun.
****************************
So here's the list for poem 1.
one person do these
1. noun
2. adjective
3. noun
4. present tense plural verb (e.g., walks, drinks, intends etc.)
5. noun (to rhyme with your noun choice for #1)
another person do these
6. noun
7. present tense plural verb
8. noun
9. adjective
10. name of deity, god, or goddess
When both lists are posted, I'll post the original and um revised versions.
Happy holidays poets--this is stress relief, this thread is. Have fun!
