Stolen Stories?

I no its been commented and said before but where or who do you report stolen stories to on Lit? or can you? I was just doing a random search for my lit writing name and found 3 sites where my stories had been copied and pasted in their entirety. Can they be removed or brought down?

While I assume that was posted without permission (you'd know, after all), I will point out that at least they are giving proper credit. I think there is a combination of many factors that make credited theft common:

1. Many authors are nonresponsive to email.
2. Assuming proper credit is given, some authors don't care that much* if a publicly available story is copied.
3. Getting permission takes time and effort.

*that much is defined as being the amount of caring needed to prompt the author to do something about it.



I would expect the real anger would probably show up when someone steals without credit or, probably worse, places the work on a pay site.

There's a Lit link at the bottom of the first page back to the submission here too. While I can understand the frustration at having your story posted without permission, they did at least give proper credit, and link back here so that people can find your other stories.

Helluva lot better than the asses just stealing stories and taking credit for them out there. Could almost consider it advertising.

If it bothers you, though, contact the site and request it be dropped. Considering they took the effort to credit and link, it would stand to reason they would probably act promptly on a request to remove it.

If not, go to Laurel and the hounds of war will be loosed, I'm sure.

Without sounding silly, how do I PM Laural? I very rarely PM anyone anyway and had a look in the members section and that didn't come up with anything.

Surprised they gave you credit. I've seen our stories all over the place, especially Dawn's audios. The problem on the pay sites is getting in to really see but I'm guessing this little search turned up one of your stories:
