Stolen Stories Again!

Here we go again. Should I be flattered? Nope!

I have already PM'd Laurel with the information and I know she's looking into the matter.

Here is the information and the letter I just sent these bozos. I tracked them down using the WHOIS Database (apparently they used to be cashtemptations.com, which was involved in stolen stories before). Now they are called Ferrocash.com.

Here is a the link to one of their sites:
Ladies Strap-on

the owner's(?) email address is:
webmaster@epantyhoseland.com

Here's my letter:

Dmitriy Kukushkin, "ferrocash.com"
P.O. Box 4477

Wilmington, DE 19807-0477

I write erotic stories and currently display them on the Literotica.com website.

http://www.literotica.com/

Often I search the internet using quoted portions of my stories to see if anyone has "appropriated" any of
my material.

I discovered that your bio page introductions on several of your "ladies in nylon" sites and your "lesbian strap-on" sites have been directly and illegally plagiarized from three of my stories.

I have notified the administrators of the Literotica website (I am sure they will be contacting you shortly) and I am notifying you myself.

(Cashtemptations group had a similar problem stealing stories; it is probably a good thing you changed the domain name.)

Remove my work from your sites immediately.

Thank you.

Will this work? Only time will tell!

It's a good idea to randomly search for story theft every so often. Don't search for titles because those will usually be changed. Highlight several sentences that contain unusual dialogue and do a yahoo search. You just may be surprised!

Please check your stories, and if you find these folks have borrowed from you as well, send them many, many nasty emails! The more the merrier!

Happy hunting! :D

I don't know if I would be angry or flattered or some of both. Guess I won't find out yet, since noone appears to have stolen anything yet.....

Sorry to hear about your difficulties. Go get 'em girl!

Whisper :rose:

Please let us all know what Laurel does and what the outcome turns out to be.

Your words are yours - hope they get knocked off the air if they don't pay you for using the stories without your permission.

-FF (writer with stories to post, feeling nervous)

Thanks, whisper! It feels good to kick some ass!

And please don't be nervous, FF, just stay on guard and check every so often.

It is illegal for them to do this; if they don't remove the materials the site can actually be shut down (webmasters don't want the hassle and will act). Usually it is a subordinant member of the group doing the stealing.

Laurel is quite experienced in dealing with this and she does get results. This is actually the fourth time this has happened to me - lol - which is why I can joke about it just a bit!

The first time was a site that took 40 stories from many Lit authors. We busted their chops! The second time was from a group in the Netherlands (that one was a bit more difficult because most of the site was not in English)! The last time was from "cashtemptations.com" the same people now but with their old name.

Each time the situation was resolved. Just check for yourself and then PM Laurel (don't email - she must get hundreds of emails daily) but I know she gets her PM's.

You know, Killer Muffin was the one who suggested searching for stories in this way. I'm so glad I took her advice and started checking. The first time I found my work stolen I was shocked and very angry. Now, it annoys me a bit, and then I tear into the computer until I find the idiots responsible. Then I feel better! LOL

It's a risk - but it is worth it. Lit takes good care of its authors!

:)

I hate that. I am glad you have located a stolen story. I wish you the best in recovery. I am not happy it was stolen in the first place. I wish everyone who reads this thread would send a nasty letter to the site owners.

I write three sentences in each of my stories that almost make no sense with the use of particular words that would almost never be used together. like (garbage disposer chewed up tomatoes and bird plumage)I keep them with the story in a notepad in the file. This makes it a lot easier to track stories.

Unfortunate I can not track all the pay sites nevermind all the sites on the web that steal stories from Lit.
One of the places that I use to search is http://www.asstr.org/main.html and I randomly search with http://www.allonesearch.com/all1srch.html Any other thoughts on how to prosecute, stop, or find theft? I would be intrested in learning them.

It is not like I want to be paid for my stories. But I want to maintain control. Lit does not steal stories that is one of the reasons I will post here. I would let other sites post stories if they asked but they tend to just steal them and that sucks.

OOh, yes, every Lit member should send a nasty email! (That would be so fun!)

I love your word combinations to track stories. I pull some sections out and run those (and it's a good thing I used several sections because they didn't use the 2nd half of one of my stories, just the first).

The pay sites aren't as tough to get as you think. Do a Yahoo search and it will give you the name of a site if your story is there. You don't have to get in, but track the domain name and contact the owners. Be specific and nasty. If they are making money using your work you deserve a piece.

I use this site to check:

DomainSpot

All you do is enter the domain name and it will give you the owner information. It is especially helpful if there are several sites owned by the same person or company.

Laurel is tough - she fights for us - and that's why I'm happy to leave this in her capable hands.

How to ...

... spot your stories. Always refer to an invented place name at some point in the story. If you invented well it will be unique and you will only get irrelevant hits.
