Stock Car Racing

i like it at times when it is a close race.

I am.......................I don't care for just one person and yes the best part is a good clean race at the end....................I close race where a good driver has to use his skills it the best....
I watch almost every weekend and have sat thru so real sleepers also..........

Stock car racing I like. I was raised in a house that worshiped Dale Earnhardt from the time before he won his first winston cup.

Do I think it is a sport though? No, not really.
I consider a sport something that makes you physically active enough that you have to be under a certain size. Anyone of anysize can drive a car around a track. Yes, it takes talent to do it at those speeds, and I am not saying just anyone would have it to do, but anyone can try.

The most physical activity a driver see's is getting in and out of the car, and pressing the gas pedal.

This has been a source of many debats with my dad. It isn't a sport to me.

Believe it or not, driving a race car is an extremely physical activity and drivers have to be in excellent shape. If they didn't, do you really think there would be web pages devoted to pictures of them with their shirts off: http://www.girlsf1.f2s.com/

Oh, wait, those are Formula One drivers... But I bet NASCAR drivers still do cardio and weight training a few times a week.

"i like it at times when it is a close race." - isn't it always a close race in NASCAR???

Uh-oh, I'm going to start off on the wrong foot here. Better put in lots of smilies :) :) :)

Just because they DO workout, doesn't mean they are required to.

It's kinda like those other 'sports' that only real 'men' participate in. Fishing, hunting, sacrificing small furry critters to pagen gods, race car driving, and golf. ;)

Hey baby :)

Congrats on your first post!

Muah!

I'm going to be short here. If you don't think Nascar drivers are athletes then climb in a 120 degree car, drive it for four hours experiencing G forces up to 3 or 4 G's and THEN tell me anyone can do it.

Gilly Bean, you're father is obviously a very smart man, you should listen to him.

I love racing. I still miss Dale Earnhardt. I haven't been able to go to a race since March and had Kevin Harvick not won then I wouldn't have been able to deal with that day at all. The first weekend in October is the Charlotte race that I haven't missed since 1993. I've got tickets and motel reservations, planning to go, but that may change again.

Michael Waltrip is MY driver and don't even think about saying something against him. You will NEVER be forgiven. Jeff Burton has moved to the top of my list along with Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Steve Park, and Kevin Harvick.

I can't stand the crybaby (yes J%~~ G*&^*@), think he, Tony Stewart, and Robby Gordon should take their prima donna selves back to the open wheel ranks from whence they came.

The two things I have learned this year is that Nascar is cool and NYC is very cool. Not that I'm moving north. And Nascar is still far behind college football and major league baseball.

Bet I could change your mind about that.

Talladega, 4 wide at 200 mph. Almost heaven.

Bristol, 15 sec laps, 43 cars on a 1/2 mile track.

Charlotte, The Winston, no points, just Sat night racing for the money.
