on abc, the second part will air tonight at 9pm EST. Did anyone watch it last night? I did, primarily because of all the hoopla surrounding it. I'm not big on TV miniseries in general, but because of my facination with S.King and scary flicks in general, I tuned in and was pretty disappointed in it. I realize that last night's episode was only a lead-in to tonight's - where, presumably, they will get to the REALLY scary stuff. heh

I'll watch tonight anyway, if for no other reason than I feel I invested 2 hours into it last night and now I'm determined to see it out to the end.

I caught the last hour of it, by accident.
Meaning, I wasn't planning on watching it. I'm not a huge TV-watcher. But, I plan on watching tonight. I love anything to do with the paranormal. :)

I only watched the last 30 minutes, and what I saw didn't look very original. I'm not sure if I'll watch the rest or not. Most of King's mini-series I like. This one seemed boring.

I watched it last night. Wasn't disappointed, though, as I knew they would have to have some sort of lead in as to what the basic story was about. My only concern was that Stephen King didn't actually write, but some other "writer" did. King's work doesn't translate well to visual media if it isn't written by King himself, IMO.

I plan on catching the entire series - and no, I'm not big on mini-series either. But most of King's work is too involved to squeeze into a couple of hours. Just look at most of the movies made from his books where he didn't write the screenplay! (Only exceptions being "Shawshank Redemption" and "The Green Mile")

But, only my opinion!

I watched it and thought it was ok. It was like a lot of King's books in that it was slow to start. Hopefully, it picks up. The 'history' behind the house was cool, and well thought out. Sort of reminded me of the legends surrounding the Winchester Mansion in CA...

I'll tune in tonight if the kids go to bed on time.

I watched the first half last night and I feel the same way you do. If I watched the first half, then I might as well watch the second half. I'm not much a a TV watcher though.

I only just figured out tonight that "Rose Red" is in THREE parts not two. Weirder still, they decided to air it on Sunday, Monday and Thursday nights... Thursday?? I looked at the t.v. listings and Bush's State of the Union address is Tuesday night, so they would have to postpone it then, but why wait until Thursday?

Argh! Don't tell me that!

I may not watch tonight.

I'm the sort that reads books in one sitting. I don't think I can watch 3 parts, with the last being days away.
:(
Oh well. My bathroom does need cleaning.

What the fuck?

OH NO! It will never happen. Thursday might as well be 2 years away from now. :( I'll never be able to do all three. :(

Oh, well....

Auuuuugh!

I'm getting so frustrated with this whole fucking show. It's like it wants to be scary but it's too fucking campy to be scary. Jesus!

Sorry to hear that

Think you could bend over a clittle more and a clittle closer?

:)

I read the PR too.....

the "building characters you could get into" part........

I fell asleep. Too much character building I guess.

Where the hell was the scary shit?

I have mixed feelings about the mini series so far. It's ok, but it could be better I think.

The main fault is that the characters get on my nerves. Especially "Emery" - close your mouth please!! (I don't mean his talking, but he always has his mouth opened!) I do like "Nick" but that could be just because Julian Sands is hot. :D

I'll still watch the last part though (I don't want to wait until Thursday!)

I also read the book, "The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer" it was a pretty interesting read. I also like the hints toward King added into the book.

I just finished watching the second part, and feel the same way, but have to finish it out to see what the hell happens, but the book is definitely better.

I'm not as patient as all of you. I am taping the whole 6 hours so that I can watch it at my pace and zip through the commercials, previews, etc. It didn't get a very good review in our local paper, so I didn't want to waste the time to watch it "live" in case it really stinks.

I"ve never once been disappointed by a King ABC miniseries, and I doubt I will with this one either. I saw the first part, and am digging the characters. I'll have to postpone watching the last two parts until the weekend. I'm taping them because I'm in classes.

But...what's striking me thus far is that it seems to be a cross between "The Shining" and "The Haunting". But if Stephen shows us the love he always does, there'll be a good twist. :)

Who is the actress that plays the maid? She's gorgeous! Reminds me of daughter's original av.

I would also have to add as exceptions "Stand By Me" (based on King's short story "The Body") and Misery. Otherwise, I think you're spot on!

Well, I couldn't watc it last night, because, The X Files was on. I have this weird goal to watch every last episode. And, tonight, I didn't get home frome work until 9:45. So, I just gave up in it.

I've watched both nights so far, and will be giving up watching Charmed to watch the final segment. Charmed runs a lot of reruns anyway. So far, I'm enjoying the miniseries, but I'd rather sit for 5 hours on a Sunday afternoon and watch the entire thing (minus commercials), guess I should have taped it.

I didn't realize until the end of the 2nd segment that the actor David Dukes died while filming it. That kind of blew me away, I hadn't known he'd passed on.

I spilled hot tea on my lap during one of the scarier moments when my cat decided to sneak up on me, but I'm a sucker for scary movies :)

I knew there'd be a couple I would miss! Yes, both of these were excellent as well. Who could ever forget Kathy Bates! Wow!

Thanks, Nigel!

The characters are semi-sympathetic for me, but it all seems so hackneyed. I mean, they _actually_ had a skeletal hand coming from underneath a bed to grab a girl's ankle! How much less original can you get? I'll probably go ahead and watch, despite the complaints, but come on Mr. King... Bring on the twist.

Just realized tonight that this was the filming David Dukes was doing when he passed over a year ago (working out at a gym!). I'm not a great fan of Stephen King's work, but had wanted to catch a glimpse of one of the finest stage actors seen on Broadway. I miss him terribly. He was truly a sweet and considerate man, and I still find it hard to believe he won't be back on stage.:( :rose:

Thanks for reminding me WhiteRose.:rose:
