STDs, a story research question....

.....I was thinking in the not-too distant future, after several of my other stories are done, of writing a story with a theme of someone who has an STD caught from a cheating partner, and having dumped that cheater, worries about finding a lover who can understand and accept the risks involved. I was thinking of herpes as the best choice of an STD, since it seems to have more of an on and off pattern with outbreaks.

First question: is genital herpes the best choice for an STD that a partner can stomach most easily?

2nd question, I was considering an incest theme here of a relative who has wanted that person, but hasn't dared to do anything about it until now, when they can get what they want, provided that they are willing to risk their health a bit. I am particularly thinking of sisters, one of whom is at most bi, but mostly straight and a younger, lesbian sister of about 19 or so who is the non-infected relative and makes the gesture of sacrifice with some ulterior motives but plenty of genuine affection. Is that plausible enough, for the readers to find it believable, in your opinion. Particularly if the older sister usually has a strong preference for men. This is meant to be a little more sentimental than my usual story.

3rd question, what sort of opening would the sister need to get her elder sibling to agree to it?

4th question, would these ideas work better if separated into different stories?

I am striving for some realism here, particularly with the older sister. I also hope for some originality. I would have raised this in the Story Ideas forum, but this requires a research issue and I wanted to get some AH feedback on the overall concept.

Bear in mind that I have very limited experience with lesbian stories. Most of my work is group, sci-fi, bondage, or straight or bisexual incest.

1st question - I think if you want to write it then you should, but just remember that many people who are physically completely mature suddenly regress to twelve year old mentality at the mention of STDs. Herpes would be a good one, probly; not deadly (little hard for people to get into a love story when they know that one character will die and the other might catch it and die too), and statistically, one in five people has herpes, so you've got a decent sized audience. However, for the people who don't know about it, I'd suggest you work in a few details that not everyone knows (like that you don't die from herpes) but without sounding like you're reciting from an STDs pamphlet.

2nd question - The sister thing would work well I think because a girl would be more likely to tell her sister than her brother or father (you could always do the 'they had a very close relationship and talked freely about sex' thing but since that's cliche anyways it doesn't really make much difference).

3rd question - 'Nice boots, wanna fuck?'

4th question - No.

SEV - this story - http://english.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=210014 by Penelope Street, discusses people dealing with herpes. It's a beautiful story, and one of the few on Lit that deals with this topic in a loving way.

I think herpes would be an easier STD for most people to handle in the story you are planning.

Thanks for the pointers, folks. That could come in handy. I also don't picture the younger sister as being the strap-on type. She is more of an oral lover. She much prefers the softer side of lesbian sex, so that is the only kind that her older sister really gets into with her. She is something of a romantic, not unlike her sister, except for being a little more tomboyish in some ways (though not mannish, if you catch the difference) and being a full-fledged lesbian. She is also very jealous, even more than her sister is. So this is a rare story of mine that doesn't involve an open relationship. It just doesn't fit either character to be a swinger. They don't seem the type. I do swinging when it makes sense, and it doesn't with this tale.

Anyway, that's my take on it so far. Where I'm leaning. And toward secrecy, as this relationship is not one that they could reveal to their parents, for obvious reasons. Older sister is more lonely than lesbian, but I think that I can make it work because she has a few bi tendencies that she has strongly repressed. She is just mostly straight, but decides to give in to her sister's advances at some point. It's just a matter of how reluctant I will make her.

Thanks for the help.

P.S. Yes, I had heard some stat like that about genital herpes. Lately I have wondered about the sex lives of infected people, especially seeing all of those commercials for medical treatments of that STD. And I figured that it would be a milder one to cover than say, gonorrhea, syphilis, or HIV.
