STC spin-off

Never bad. I honestly feel that some of my best stuff as come out of the STCs. Okay, the best stuff written by that alien that slimed my brain. And no, there were no anal probes involved....

An exchange of ideas with The Fool started me thinking - and I realised how my poems are often triggered by the STCs.


"A House Divided" grew out of "Tangled Fluoresence" challenge.

"Fagin" grew out of the "Bent" challenge.

"Rose" grew out of the Dark Feel challenge.

Ghostly Lovers grew out of the Ghost challenge.

Winter Passing grew from the Solstice challenge.

I wonder how many work in the same way.

To be more succinct. Okay, that will never happen. "Bent" and "Elaborate Décolletage" are two of my better poems and both were STC Poems. As I stated in another post, both of these poems sprang from ideas that so disparate from my initial concepts. Go figure.

I used to

spend a lot of time at AOL's Amazing Instant Novelist contest site where each week a topic is chosen and everyone writes to that topic. Basically a challenge, but with winners and points. After about 4-1/2 years of working there, I won a 5 year old digital camera. Not much of a camera, but fun to win. Many of the poems I have here grew out of the AOL site.

I've participated in a few challenges here and have a few poems. I actually took one back to the AOL site and entered it, winning a bronze honorable mention... which means about 20th place or so...
