Stay smooth

I recently shaved my private area and I really like it.
For the ladies (or anyone) — how do you stay smooth and avoid the stubble and itching? Is waxing the only way to do it? I have both an electric shaver and woman’s gillete venus shaver.
I’ve read there are certain oils/creams that can be used but that doesnt sound right.

Is waxing my only option? If yes, how painful is it to get a Brazilian?

I am not a lady, but I shave.

To keep from itching, you must just keep shaving. You can let it go a few days but there reaches a moment when you have to decide to just put up with the itch until it grows out fully again, or shave it smooth again. I have pretty much kept mine close shaved for 25 years now.

As for the stubble. That is caused by bacteria on the skin causing issues with how the hair was just traumatized. I use hand sanitizer after shaving to stop that from happening. That is why cologne is applied to a mans face, and has lots of alcohol in it.

Guess I'm in the "anyone" group :D
Waxing is my preferred method. No itching at all, no stubbles. I've posted pics of me after waxing yesterday if you want to see results. It's not painful as people imagine. It's mostly in the mind, people expect pain and then react to it. Other option for longer results is electric epilator. Now that is more painful, but the results are good. Did that too before. Long story short, hot wax and you should be ok and your pussy ready for tongue. ;)

I use a pair of tweezers and pluck my pubes. It can be time consuming but it can also be a lot of fun...and the results are great. Smooth without any of the occasional nicks that I got from shaving.

Perhaps you can find a helping hand to assist you. :)

I would recommend the Brazilian. It’s not that painful, but I would definitely suggest going to a nicer salon or a place that specializes in waxing. (Do you have a WaxxPot near you? That’s my favorite for any kind of waxing).

I tried everything to not get the little bumps (seriously, how sexy is something that looks like a rash. Ugh.), but I never could. Shaving with an electric razor helps and this is what I typically do now, but I don’t go for 100% smooth, just very neatly trimmed. As a redhead...well, I kinda like having some hair down there anyway, so super trimmed has become my norm.

Mrs Sthrn uses a set of electric hair clippers with the beard trimmer head on it. It isn't cut so short that I have to go thru the itching, prickly stage.. Its not shaved, but nice and neat... with my red hair (now grey lol) it doen't show...

thanks everyone

Thanks for all the advice. there is a European wax center close to my house that does Brazilians. I have to let the hair grow out for a little bit I read on their website. Im a little terrified but also turned on at the same time that a lady will see me and do the waxing. ;)
I will just have to endure the itching in the meantime.
oh the things we have to go through for looking pretty down there. :)

and I saw your newly waxed look... very nice!

I'm going to echo the 'get a Brazilian' comments. The first time is a bit weird, and in all honesty, it does hurt a bit, but not as much as you think it's going. I try to remember to take a pain killer beforehand - that helps a bit. Also, exfoliate with a loofah or some sort of scrubby thing - apparently that makes it a bit easier for the hairs to come out. The regrowth is much more pleasant that if you shave. Also, if you keep doing it, the hair starts thinning out ... I think it just gives up in disgust and stops bothering to grow. If I'm seeing someone regularly, I'll usually go about every 4-5 weeks - that also helps with the pain. I've also managed to do emergency 'tidy ups' myself, just around the ... I can't think of the right word. Not the actual vulva, but the pubic area, if that makes sense. Try to be a good customer for your waxologist. I have quite an inexperienced girl doing mine at the moment - I was her first non-practice client, and she was super nervous because, let's face it, it's pretty weird. I just told her to do as much as she felt comfortable with (I had actually only booked for an extended bikini wax), and then we cracked a bunch of stupid jokes about local guys, and she did the whole thing, and did an excellent job.

LOL - that was meant to be a two-sentence post. Sorry, I got a bit carried away.

Thanks Kim. Im mustering up the courage to do it. It should be in another few weeks as they have a hair “length” recommendation for better results. Ha!
Maybe I will do it the same day I get my haircut and eyebrows waxed to get everything over with in a day.. ;)

Mine's been shaved regularly for42 years, it's just an unremarkable part of general hygiene for my husband and I. Except when we shave each other, then it's recreational. Never tried any of the fancy stuff, and never had any real irritation from shaving, either. I suppose my skin's just used to it.

I don't really understand the fascination with waxing. We don't have a big industry of men getting their faces waxed, do we?

By now having shaved genitals is such a natural part of our appearance I can't even imagine what either one of us would look like bushy. And I don't really want to know, either.

Edit: to answer the question about oils or creams, we haven't needed anything like that. I just suds up good with Ivory soap, then work some creamy body wash like Olay on top of it. That lubricates just fine, and doesn't cause any skin reaction. Ray uses that to shave his face as well.
We do it every two or three days, it's quick and almost effortless.

I shave daily. I highly recommend the Schick Hydra 6 blades and use a good gel with aloe. Change the blade weekly, abs apply baby or coconut oil afterwards. No bumps, no stubble. Always baby smooth.

I think waxing men's faces would be a disaster because of the combination of relatively delicate facial hair and pretty tough whiskers - men's facial hair is of a significantly different consistency to almost everything else on either men or women. But plenty of women who have unwanted hair growing on their faces wax it off.
I don't think waxing is a 'fascination' - just a good viable alternative. I've never shaved anything (legs, underarms, etc) because I don't like the feel of the hairs regrowing after shaving. Everything is waxed. I don't have to do it so often, and it's more comfortable regrowing - those are the advantages. However, there are disadvantages - it's a bit more of a process, and because you need some hair for the wax to grip, you do have to let a reasonable amount of regrowth happen.

Pro tip that I discovered today while talking with my waxologist ... if you leave the time between waxes relatively short (4-6 weeks), it's less painful because the hair roots aren't so deep. The first time you get a Brazilian will be the most painful, because those hairs are very well-rooted.

I have no knowledge of any SAFE oils, lotions or cremes, that are commercially available that can help you stay smooth. There are certain herbs that can be safely used to not necessarily cause all the hair to fall out but will discourage it from growing as robustly as it was before the individual started using the herbs. But you have to VERY careful in their usage...because hair is hair and its EVERYWHERE.
All I'm saying is do your due diligence.

Thanks. There’s an anti-ingrown serum that the local European wax center recommended. And the esthetician said to exfoliate 1-2x a week. We’ll see..

Good tip

That’s what mine said too. It wasnt that bad, she did a good job of distracting me. It took probably 10-15 mins max. Once I got over the initial embarrassment (glad I had a mask on) it was fine. Im probably gonna be back in about 4-5 wks.
Thanks everyone.

You could try IPL hair removal - it works

There is a process called IPL hair removal that you perform at home using a plug-into-the-wall electrical appliance. It is used after shaving to gradually prevent hair from growing back in that area. You use it every week for 5 to 8 weeks, then monthly thereafter. It gradually gets the job done, but operates on a small patch and requires multiple weekly treatments to be effective.

The process uses an intense pulse of light (IPL) to make a small area of hair follicles become dormant. You then move it slightly and zap again. The pulse is not comfortable, but feels like the snap of a rubber band, and it leaves no mark or discoloration. You will smell the hair being burned below the skin.

The problem is that to purchase a quality unit costs a few hundred dollars, and reviews seem to indicate that you get what you pay for.

Try google or amazon for "IPL hair removal"

If you choose shaving, to minimise itch you need to use a new blade every time and shave with not against the direction of the hair.

Laser hair removal. Hurts like hell for the first two treatments or so, but after that, it is no big deal. Some of the hair will eventually grow back, but it will be much less and much finer. It comes off with a razor like peach fuzz. It was expensive, but it was well worth it.

Same here. But if you shave and go long enough between shaves so it gets scratchy. I’ve found that if you use a good shampoo that softens the hair it doesn’t irritate. I don’t know if that will work for women since vaginas can be sensitive to soaps.

Huge fan of laser hair removal. I’ve had my back, chest, all around my cock and all the way back to my ass. Feels great to me, I have rave reviews from partners, and no more bumps, rash, and the like.
I probably have a few pics I’ve posted if you search my posts.
