State of the Union Address (American politics)

And I was all set to castigate you for giving me a hard time about political threads. ;)

Um, why are we the only people in this thread?

I am. I'm constantly surprised by both GW and the folks who hang on his every word as though he were actually about to tell the public what he was really up to....

For example (re Medicare drug bill) ...

WOMAN IN AUDIENCE: 'I don't really understand. How is it the new plan going to fix the problem?'

Verbatim response* (PRESIDENT BUSH): 'Because the -- all which is on the table begins to address the big cost drivers. For example, how benefits are calculated, for example, is on the table. Whether or not benefits rise based upon wage increases or price increases. There's a series of parts of the formula that are being considered. And when you couple that, those different cost drivers, affecting those -- changing those with personal accounts, the idea is to get what has been promised more likely to be -- or closer delivered to that has been promised. Does that make any sense to you? It's kind of muddled. Look, there's a series of things that cause the -- like, for example, benefits are calculated based upon the increase of wages, as opposed to the increase of prices. Some have suggested that we calculate -- the benefits will rise based upon inflation, supposed to wage increases. There is a reform that woul! d help solve the red if that were put into effect. In other words, how fast benefits grow, how fast the promised benefits grow, if those -- if that growth is affected, it will help on the red.'

Well, that certainly clears it up for me! How 'bout you?

Y'know, Impressive, if you paid your own bills and didn't depend on welfare for your existence, you need not be concerned with such trivia.

Yeah, I know...just chuckling over the left and their means of release after the Alito confirmation and a better than average Bush State of the Union, I feel your pain...

(Not!)

I do and I don't and, yet, I still am.

Trivia? The man who's tasked with running our country is a babbling idiot.
That -- in and of itself -- is alarming enough. If it weren't for the proverbial silver spoon, he would undoubtedly be one of those welfare leeches you so disdain.

Actually, he really has quite an intellect, he just likes to dangle the Texas drawl and baseball and C&W (going to the grand ole opry tomorrow) facade before you psuedo intellects to infuriate you and...sighs...it works...ever so well.'

With a little research, you can learn the intellect of Condy Rice and Carl Rove and VP Cheney and realize that ole Dubya manages them rather well, not a small accomplishment.

Quite the opposite was true with the hormone driven Clinton who talked the talk, but was unable to walk the walk as there was nothing inside him.

Even you can see that.

You are SO amusing, ami. :rose:

I never said I was infuriated. Nor did I cast aspersions on the intellects of Rice, Rove, or Cheney (or boast of Clinton's).

Okay, so ur not infuriated, I can live with that.
