In the far future, when humanity has joined the galatic community with the rest of the alien races which have achieved interstellar travel, relations between Earth and the other races are good, but shaky. Earth, now known as Terra, finally exists under a unified government, and the planet enjoys an unprecedented peace. Many of the other space faring species of the galaxy have welcomed the Terrans into their community with open arms, finding the naive race to be quite intriguing.
This new relationship between humans and the other alien races, while still shaky, has not been without benefits. Shared technology has allowed the Terrans to make leaps and bounds in the science of interplanatery space travel, and many Terran groups have been wise to take advantage of it for.. profitable ends. Many organizations have used the faster-than-lightspeed travel technology to create 'galatic cruise liners'. These ships are designed for those who are wealthy enough to enjoy the lavishness and luxury, while seeing some of the most beautiful planets in the galaxy.
Just recently, production was finished on a cruise liner known as the Starship Titanic, a vessel which has drawn quite a bit of interest as it's highly advanced hull makes it virtually unbreachable. It is also the first luxury galatic cruise liner which is affordable for all but the most poverty stricken individuals. The Starship Titanic plans to go on a trip several months long, visiting some of the most fantastic vacation planets including: Tinaz V, which has some of the most breathtaking beaches, Zarain, with it's majestic mountain peeks, Ionas, a planet where the practice of physical therapy has become a veritable artform, and much much more.

I sort of came up with this thread idea on a whim, as it seemed like a really interesting idea for a space-based SRP series. Basically, you can make a character of just about any race you can come up with, as long as you offer up some information about that race so anyone else playing has some clue how to react to your character. Also, no fantasy creatures please. No Vampires, Werewolves, Minotaurs, Elves, or any of that.
The whole setting allows for a chance to make interesting characters which can mingle and, well, 'mingle'. And it also offers a chance to visit any sort of interesting place the players would like to visit. It allows for, in my opinion, all sorts of creative situations. But most of all, I'd just like everyone to have lots of fun. This thread is for discussion of the thread, and posting of characters. I'll be working on an introduction post for a bit, so please, if you want to join, just come in and ask anything you like, I'll be glad to answer.
EDIT: By the way, I ask that anyone writing in this thread be mature and at least try to have good grammar. I don't mean to be a bother about it, but I'd prefer that people try to write well, and at least have one or two paragraphs per post at a minimum.
