Star wars = magicians battling technological monsters (for the most part).

Star trek= technological mastery battling the universe in the name of "exploration".

Star Trek = magic. Can't go faster than the speed of light.

Firmly in the Star Trek camp ... Capts Picard and Janeway, Spock, Q ... and so many wonderful guests!!!
But also a fan of Star Wars ... at the San Diego premier so many years ago, and in love with everything since.
It is all magic :)

They don't actually go faster than the speed of light, they warp space itself.

Warp drive.

Which isn't the magic part, that's actually scientifically sound....we know space time can be warped and expand/contract faster than the speed of light.

The fiction part is that they can muster enough energy to actually warp space time to the extent they create an control an artificial gravity well or "event horizon" to surf a ship across space time on.

The only things we know of with enough juice to do that to the extent needed are black holes. Long way from harnessing that power.

Star Trek, definitely. How about "Which has the hottest women?" Again, Star Trek.

I want to prefer Star Trek, but I don't. Star Wars is just better. Not only artistically, but the story telling.

I feel like Isaac Asimov would prefer Star Trek.

Have you tried Star Trek: Discovery? By far the best storytelling of the entire franchise.

SW was for pre-teens in their onesises cuddling by Mommy's feet.

ST was tolerable once they dumped Kirk.

B5 Rules.

Star Trek.

I liked the last one, that was supposed to be the first one, best. I was it's only viewer though because it only lasted a couple of seasons.

Star Trek better as a TV series than ST and Star Wars movies

I do not include Discovery on this list

The Worst

Breaks the rules of the universe and instead of using the internationally respected Michele Yeoh as the focus they use a Mary sue person we don't care about

In Star Trek the tech comes from alien races. We are contacted after achieving a light speed milestone and with that came all the knowledge of all the races in the galaxy. That's how we were able to leap forward technologically so quickly in the Star Trek universe. Warp drives, universal translators, teleportation, etc.

Trekkie all the way. Waiting for new season of Discovery.
I like JJ Abram's influence on both franchises, tbh.

Star Trek by far! Star Wars had great special effects but the story sucked and became repetitive, destroy the death star, destroy the rebuilt death star, destroy the death planet. So lame.

Star Trek was totally ahead of its time and broached many interesting and controversial topics.

No contest.

ST every time - it has sex appeal. The only mistake in the films was to cast Simon Pegg, who's a twat and totally ruined Scottie. Either Zachary Quinto or Mr Nimoy can rock my bed with illogical animal lust

What did he do to Star Wars that was so awful? Nothing in Force Awakens went against convention or mythology.

Introducing a Mary Sue as the main character: Rey
Ruining the character of Luke Skywalker
Just rehashing the same plot from New Hope
