OOC: There is an OOC tread for this story. Please use that if you wish to be a part of it. A list of the characters we already have is there also. We would like to keep the OOC to a minumim in here.

IC: The screen before Captain Picard was filled with the face of a very upset Ambassador Jenkins. Her face was creased in worry and her eyes flashed as she spoke. "It been four month since we have heard from them. They were on a simple scientific mission to explore space and spot any new planets ready for colonization and to record activites on those that were not. There were no indications of trouble in the first six months of exploration and suddenly all communications cease. Their supplies are not going to last much longer...if they are still alive. We need you to find out what has happened to them and to affect a rescue if possible."

Capt. Picard sat back in his chair and looked hard at the woman on the screen. The USS Tesla was missing. A Federation Science Ship, the Tesla had been sent to survey an unexplored region of the galaxy. It was a pretty straight forward mission and the fact that it was a science vessal ment that they were not equiped with alot of firepower and could be prey to unfriendly vessels. A survey of all the usual enemies of the Federation had proved to be dead ends. They were dealing with something or someone new on this one which ment that a great deal of caution was needed.

"Captain," The woman before him said,"Jean Luc....I need you to find them. My son was on that ship and I need to know exactly what happened. Of all the starship captains that could have been out in this part of space at this time I am glad it is you. I know you will do your best to find them and bring them back. I will be waiting for word from you. Jenkins out." With that the image on the screen faded and was replaced by blackness.

Meanwhile in the Delta Quadrant of space:

Captain Kathrine Janeway was sitting in her quarters staring at a map of the area they were passing through.
Chakotay was leaning over her shoulder surveying the star system also and pointing to a small planet in their flight path. "This planet is one that seems to have the best chance of edibles and other supplies we are needing. It looks to be unihabited. At least by anything that we are familiar with. It is good because we wont encounter any of our enemies but we must be careful that we dont stumble on anything we are not prepared for. I dont anticipate any problems at this point but we should exercise caution as always."

"These others," his finger sweept the planets in their immediate vacinity and close to their flight path,"Show no sign of life...plant or otherwise. In my opinion it would be a waste of resources to go there and, as you well know, we do not have resources to waste."

Janeway nodded and sipped at her tea as she leaned back in her chair. "How long will it take to reach this planet." She asked him.

"With no unseen problems....six days," He answered.

"How many days supplies would you say we have onboard," Was her next question.

"With rationing...I would say we could streatch it to last seven days," his face showed his concern.

"Very well, Chakotay, than lets head to the planet with all due haste and implement a rationing program. I want everyone's cooperation on this. I know it's hard but we have no other choice at the moment."

Chakotay inclined his head in her direction and exited her quarters. Janeway sat back and sighed as she looked at the star map again. The crew had been getting very testy of lately but being so far away from home and having to scramble to just survive every day had a tendency to do that. With one last glance at the screen, she reached over to turn it off, rise and head towards the bridge.

And on the planet of Toril: (indyweasel will be gone for a few days so we are going to have to play this without him for a bit)

The crystal glowed in the rooms of the council members. It was a message from the elder of the councel. They were needed to discuss the upcoming decisions that had been put before the councel upon the appearance of the evil ones.

There would also be a discussion of the elder's vision of more of the evil beings in their ships from the sky. Recommendations on how to deal with the intruders would be heard and considered during the meeting.

The meeting would be held within on cycle of the moons and was expected to go on for at least seven cycles after that. Therefore the councel members would need to make arrangements with their families for their long abscence and come to the meeting hall. The meeting hall would be closed to all those not of the councel until the matter was resolved.

Captain Jean-Luc Picard

The Captain's office seemed too small... once again, the Enterprise and her crew were being called upon to go to the farthest reaches of the known galaxy. Which suited Jean-Luc perfectly well... the science studies in this area, while important enough, weren't so very exciting to the dynamic Captain, or much of his crew.

Striding out through the sliding doors, he spoke to his bridge crew with the authority of one who knows he truly belongs in command.

"Ensign Bishop, you have the conn. Number One, Mr. Data, Mr. Worf, Counsellor Troi, Mr. La Forge, please join me in the ready room." Picard tapped his communicator, "Captain Picard to Dr. Crusher, please report to the bridge ready room."

LaForge

ooc: Laforge will have the new eye implants, not the visor.

ic: Geordi cut short his explanation of the new configuration for the engineering work station. He returned the display to the previous version, and with a few final words to the junior officer he turned to follow the commander into the ready room.

Riker

"I will be there in a second Captain." I say to him as I turn and finish looking over the sensor readings.

Getting up from my station, I walk to the ready room. I keep walking as the doors slide shut behind me, and sit at my usual spot with my hands locked together, on the table.

Deanna

I heard the call and looked over to where Reg sat. We were in the middle of one of his sessions and now I would have to go.

"Sorry about that," I said to him with a smile,"I'm sorry, Reg, but duty calls. I think we are making some real progress. Why dont we continue this again in a couple of days."

Ushering him out of the door, I walked towards the turbo lift and the ready room. When I reached my destination I saw Will and Geordi there. Slipping into my customary seat, I waited for the others to arrive.

Dr. Beverly Crusher

“Certainly Captain. I’ll be right with you.”

Dr. Crusher taps her communicator gently before placing the chart back into its appropriate space. She nods to her assistant and makes her excuses.

“Hopefully I’ll be right back, Henri. Continue to restock med area 2 and I’ll resume your orientation as soon as I return.”

She turns quickly and makes her way from the Sickbay to the Turbolift. “Main Bridge.” She speaks firmly as the doors slide quietly shut – only to open a split second later onto the requested area. She makes her way quickly to the ready room, assuming her usual seat.

Chakotay

As I leave the Captain's Ready Room. I start up a list of ways to conerve energy. I walked in to the Mess Hall. There was Neelix coking somthing . "Neelix come sit a moment i need to spek with you" Neelix came over and sat. " Neelix as you know we are running low on supplies. I need you to start rationing ever thing i figuer we should have food to last 7 weeks if we strech it. But Commander that barely gives them enough to eat said Neelix. Well Neelix it's eithter eat small or not eat. I see commander said Neelix. Don't worry commander I will take care of it." I left the mess and got on the turbolift " Bridge". As i entered the bridge the Captains was there. I walked up to her . "Her is a list of ways we can concerve energy. Plus I spoke with Neelix about the rest . He agreed and said he would stat it immediatly."

Barclay

I step out of the Counsellors quarters. We were indeed making progress but not as much as I would have hoped. The counsellor still has a way of driving me crazy. The slightest shifting in her seat or throwing back her hair and suddenly I'm back on the holodeck in my fantasy world in which some female officers(One of them usually being Deanna) are fighting over me.

"With the senior staff gone, they could probably u-use me in engineering" I said to myself, making my way to the lifts. The doors swish open.

"Ten forward" I said. Engineering could wait. I needed a drink.

Janeway

I looked over the list that Chakotay had handed me and nodded. As always, I could find no fault with his reccomendations. Handing it back to him I said,"Impliment them immediately."

To the helmmen I said,"You know our destination. I want us to get there with all possible speed. Warp six for right now as I want to conserve our fuel." Then turning to my science officer, Tuvoc, I added,"I want you to go through each department and get a list of needed items. Then you can make up a wish list for what everyone would like to have. The first list takes top proirity and is what we spend our time gathering. Then, if we can work on the second list we will. Make sure that everyone understands those priorities."

Going to my chair, I sat down and stared at the screen and the stars we were passing through. Many times I had considered this part of the job the most relaxing but now even the simple act of flying through space took on a note of urgency.

Data

"This is Data" I said, tapping my com-badge, "I'll be right with you Captain."

I turned to the small matter at hand.

"Spot!" I called out, to my pet who had taken up her favourite hiding place behind a pile of my paintings up against a wall, "come on now, I have got to get to the ready room."

After putting down a bowl of feline supplement number forty-three, I finally managed to entice her out. Smiling, I picked her up and gave her a scratch behind the left ear. "Behave now Spot" I chuckled, carrying her out of my crew quarters and putting her down outside, as I made my way to the ready room.

"Main Bridge" I said, stepping into the turbolift.

Chakotay

After the Captain ok my list. I strated to put it to action. We need to reserve as much energy as possible so we have tunred off th holo-decks and the Astro Metric Lab.Plus many other thing that where not nessary for day living. One that I fear the crew is gonna really be upset over is the replicators are turned off. From now on everyone will have to go to the Mess Hall to eat. Anything beside food that is need. That normally would be replicated will hav to be approved by eithter the Captain,me,or Tuvok. Plus we have ask the docotor to stay offline as much as possible. I hated to have to ask him but every little bit counts. He did not like it. But knew the reason and went quitely.I return to the Captian. Ever thing is in place get ready. I imagine there are gonna be a few complaints. But you and I both know this has to be done.

Tuvok

First step was enginering. The things they need where of the most importants. The biggest thing being Dilithium crystals. Plus there whwere other and the list was still growing. When we run out of one thing we would use somtihng else in it's place but no we are running out of everything. But we have faced this Problem before and we will overcome it.After a few hour of work. I finsih the list. I walk to the turbo lift thinki of the job Chakotay gave. He want me to be over the replicators.I enter the Turbo lift "Bridge". The Captain is still in her chair. Here is the lits you requested Captain.

Worf

When the call from the captain comes, I am just finishing kata drills in the gym. As I leave the mats, I pause at the intercom panel on the bulkhead to let the captian know I'm on my way. I quickly make my way through the showers before throwing on my uniform and ducking into the nearest turbolift. Not wishing to be any later, I use my security override to give my car priority routing to the bridge.

Striding quickly through the bridge, I take a second to glance at the security console over the duty officer, Lieutenant Harris' shoulder. The board is all green; I move quickly on to the captain's ready room, ready to focus completely on the briefing. As I enter, I see that I'm the last to arrive. I go quickly to my place and take my seat. "My apologies, captain."

DS9

Place: DS9, Deck 12, Marine CO's office

Dufray sat in his office going over the latest reports from the fleet, not much was going on. the Klingon Empire was rebuilding with chanclour Martok in charge now. the Romaluans where letting more people into thier space and the Cardassians were also rebuilding after the War.

His XO, walks in and sits down. Dufray looks across his desk "yes Captian?" Marine Captian James Baker reached for a PADD he had in his pocket "Sir I have bad news,we just recived a report from our sensor net, The USS Tesla has vanished sir." Dufray leaned back in his chair. "computer bring up files on USS Tesla." With PADD in hand the computer brings up the info on the USS Tesla. Dufray reads off what is says. "USS Tesla, Nova class starship(OOC: Like from ST:Voy, Equinox pt 1 & 2) crew 100 people, Decks 15. no much there, James"

Baker shaked his head, "it's not the ship sir, it is who's on it" Dufray looked at him oddly, then smiled "who's on it James?" James bowed his head slighty then haned the PADD over "I'm sorry Charles, But Adali and Kyle where." Dufray jumped up and slung the PADD across the room curseing very loadly in the process. "of all the ships, she had to be on this one. James does Fleet know yet?" James stood up next to his CO "Yes sir, Picard was contacted by Ambassador Jenkins an hour maybe more ago." Dufray walked out of his office followed by Baker. he tapps his Comm badge "Col. Dufray to Capt. Jennifer Grey."

Meantime:
Captian Jennifer Grey stood over ops, looking around, with in the last few years (OOC: two cicne the war) she has been everywhere, from Earth to Kronos and now to DS9, after Captian Sisko's apprent death, Starfleet need the best out here, DS9 now had Secutriy and Marine personal everywhere. but the one person she could not stand was Col. Dufray, the man had a brink on his shoulder the size on Hong Kong, and yet he was nice to everyone. she slugly tapped her Comm badge "yes, Colonel?" she heard his voice come back "Ma'am I am leaveing DS9 for a few weeks and am leaveing Captian Baker in charge of the Marines here. Just don't make him blow something up, Dufray out." Grey smiled to herself, no Baker she could get along with. she looked down once more "Ops, when Dufray asked to depart, give him full clearence I'll be in my office" the lonely Ops officer looked up "yes Ma'am"

Shuttlebay:

Dufray sat inside the shuttle getting ready to depart, he had clearence to leave, so he powered up and lifted off. As he was taking off he saw the Wormhole open up, he smiled. and though of something Worf once said. "prehaps today is a good day to die" Dufray shruged and lepted to Warp heading towards the USS Enterprise.

OFF: Tag Enerprise.

Capt. Picard

The familiar thrill of a new mission to an uncharted area filled Picard, but no one would know it by looking at his calm exterior. As each of his highly-trained and extremely capable officers filed in, he greeted them with a look of approval. Finally, the last of them, the uncharacteristically late Lt. Commander Worf, the Klingon Chief of Security, joined them.

"Ah, Mr. Worf. So sorry to call you in from your exercise, but we have an urgent mission before us. Mr. Data, the holoscreen please..." At a movement from Data, the holo-display lit up, displaying the appropriate sector of space. A single large nebula was visible, opaque in the foreground. Data began to recite appropriate information: "This is the Aondari Nebula. It is in a very desolate region of space, home to no known species of sentient life. The nebula itself is opaque to most sensors, except from a very close range. Up until very recently, there was no reason for any interest to be taken in this area. There are 453 known planetoids in the regions just around the..."

Capt. Picard cleared his throat, "Thank you, Commander. Ambassador Jenkins informs me that the Tesla, an Intrepid class science vessel under the helm of Captain Melinda Thorne, was sent there to investigate the Nebula some 10 months ago. For the first 6 months of their exploration, all was well, then they went in to explore the deep areas of the nebula, where communications would be impossible. Since that time, there has been nothing but silence. They were due to be out of communications for only 2 months, so Starfleet is understandably worried. For a time, foul play on the part of an enemy of the Federation was suspected, but Starfleet Security has come up empty. We are to report to the Aondari Nebula with all due speed, at once, and discover the fate of that ship." He paused, and looked at his officers, "Are there any questions?"

LaForge

Lt LaForge thought quickly at the mention of the Aondari Nebula. Very desolate region was right, and a long way off. Four months lost in a nebula...

"Captain," said Geordi. "Was the information they collected transferred to Starfleet? If we can analyze their data, we might find something they missed." As he spoke he wondered about an ion storm ripping through the nebula. With its shields reduced to minimum by the interference, the Tesla could have taken heavy damge. He looked at the captain.

Data

"Captain, the Aondari Nebula is close to the border of Cardassian space" I said. "Although Starfleet has been unable to come up with any evidence that any enemy force is involved in the disappearance of the USS Tesla, it is highly probable that the nebula could be used to conceal Dominion activities, given its sensor-retardant properties."

"I have analysed the small amount of scientific data that has been gathered on the nebula. There is not enough information to see if it is possible to make adjustments to our sensor array to penetrate the nebula beforehand."

Riker

"Captain, what if the Dominion is responsible for the dissappearance of the Telsa?" I ask with my voice full of concern, "Do we retalliate against them, or find out if the crew is still alive and rescue them?" I finish, preparing for the worst hopeing that it isn't that bad.

Janeway

I glanced at the lists that Tuvoc had given me and then handed them over to Chakotay. "Complaints I can handle," I told him with a smile,"My crew starving or running out of oxygen presents a problem."

"Get an away team together, Chakotay. Make sure to include yourself and Mr. Tuvoc and any others that you feel will be needed. We will be beaming you down as soon as we reach the planet and assure ourselves that there is no danger present. We cannot afford to waste a moment on getting these supplies."

Deanna

My brow furrowed. This was not good news at all. It was always a tradgedy when a ship was unaccounted for. I knew that everyone who joined the Federation and boarded a ship were aware of the dangers out here in space but it never made the tragedies any easier to bear.

Not having any questions, I sat back and waited for the Captain to answer those that had been put to him.

The Councel of Toril

Sarina entered the councel room and took her place at the head of the table. She placed her manuscripts before her and sat back in a reagal manner, her raven hair falling and framing a face that was pale and gaunt from fatigue. Her hands not as steady as they usually were and her violet eyes barely hidding the worry there.

Relaxing for the first time in many cycles, she sat and waited for the others to arrive.

the Green Mage

Ransitar swept through the arched entryway without a glance at the guards. He had never been stopped by them, and indeed he would have been astounded if one had shown the affrontry to even speak to him. Not that they would have dared. His build was slight, but there was a power coiled within him that nearly shone through the black eyes that scowled at the corridor. His long brown hair was tied back, and a thin tan shirt showed under his deep red vest. A hunter green cape whipped behind him as he strode down the hall.

He entered the council chamber and sat in his chair. A small cube appeared in his hand, and he pressed one of its faces and laid it on the table as it began glowing a soft blue. Ransitar finally looked up and around the table, then towards its head. "As usual, Sarina, we find ourselves waiting." His eyes narrowed. "If I may say, you need to find a few hours alone. You look...preoccupied."

Sorkorin

I walked into the hall dreading what was to come. Here we are again, preparing to battle technology out of our own fear. "Why is that we must destroy those things that we do not understand? ", I ask myself as I walk towards the meeting chambers. But alas, I am still trying to move Sarina to at least listen to me with an open mind.

I walk through the doors and see both Sarina and Ransitar waiting for me. "That damn Ransitar is already here trying to convice Sarina that we should destroy that ship", I quipe to myself as I take my proper place at Sarina's hand.

"Already trying to convince us to destroy everything?", I jab Ransitar once I get comfortable. I look deep into his eyes trying to gauge his true feelings at this. Slowly I let the spell weave its way, trying to ascertain the true emotions as to what both Sarina and Ransitar feel.

Sarina and The Council

Sarina held up a hand to halt Ransitar's well meaning words. She was about to speak when Sorkorin entered. "We have no time for personal meditation and rest," She told Ransitar,"You, of all people, should know that."

Turning to Sorkorin, she cast a quick cantrip to block his spell. "There is no need for that in these chambers," She told Sorkorin,"We will all have a chance to say what we feel shortly. If we assume we cannot trust other council members than soon we shall undermine ourselves just as they did." She had no need to point out who they were...both of her fellow council members knew exactly who she was speaking of.

Her words were cut off as more council members started to file into the room. With a warning glance at both of them, she waited until all were present before standing up and addressing the eleven others who made up the Council of Toril.

"My fellow council members," She begin, looking at each of them,"We are faced with a crisis of growing magnitude. And it will take the wisdom of us all to overcome its influence...."

Sorkorin

Damn her. Why does she think that becuase those young rebels did something stupid that it will happen to us? The great council. I think not.

I look at each of the members of the council, as she starts speaking about the impending crisis. Trust each of the dimwits? I think not. Most of them barely know how to open their spellbooks, much less understand what to do with it. Most of the members seem happy to just follow along with whateer they are told. Happy with the station on the planet, running it as they see fit. Maybe they cannot see beyond our planet, but I can.
