SRP - How to grok it?

Anyone got some spare time? I don't quite get the SRP forum. I understand it from the technical point of view, how it works. And I understand story writing as a means of expression, for whatever reason, as I've written a few stories, too. I even understand cybersex-chat as real-time method of arousal (and/or more).

But I don't grok the intentions of the people writing in the SRP forum (and I know some here do write there..so.. don't run away now).

I write in the SRP's as a method to excercise my brain.

I love to write, having written many short stories both of a sexual nature and those of a tamer variety.

However, I choose to express myself in the SRP's because of the extra thought processes required to build a story with somebody elses input. The plot lines have a habit of changing post to post, which keeps me on my toes.

I have a bad habit of plotting how I figure a story will go, only to find my writing partner has spun off in a different direction, requiring me to think outside the little box I have placed that little bit of action in.

It's a challenge and I enjoy it.

There is also always the advantage of finding a writing partner that you just click with, on a personal level as well, and if your story is good enough, you can place yourself as your protagonist in the tale you are spinning, making it one hell of an intense, highly erotic experience. (think cybersex, with a plot)

Anyway, thats my take on it, and why 98% of my post count comes from the SRP's ;)

The part I dont get is these people that create one or two line posts and call it a story...theres no plot, its just like long drawn out cyber, cause it always takes days and days just to get the equivilent to 5 minutes steady typing. I always want to suggest they just get a chat room, cause it would do the same thing lol

I agree with you! Great post!

It's a glorious writing partnership when it works. I had real passion for SRP at one time. It's a cross between role play and writing with sex thrown in.

I mostly wanted to write D/s story lines but just writing a character was fun. Detail and dialog writing were two areas that I wanted to delve into. Writing sex for such a shy girl like me was challenging.

When it works well, I do put myself into the character to write as "true" as I can.
