Why do I have the worst luck on the 4th of July?

Two years ago my apartment was broken into and a LOT of our electronics and money were stolen.

Now, I sprain my ankle.

This is the worst holiday EVER. :/

The only good news is that I've been unconscious throughout most of it due to pain medication. Yay Vicoden!

*only here to offer friendly cyber gropes and get well soon wishes*

I spent my July 4th crying. Wasn't fun.

that horrid throb when it's still so swollen it doesn't look like an ankle is horrible! I know you have a small child, but try to stay off it as much as you can!

Mister and my parents are helping a LOT. Thank God. ^_^

Awwww.... <<friendcuddlehuggles>>

Yeahhhh, I think you're gonna have to find a way to lock up the house - and yourself, apparently! - for the 4th, and hide away from the world. And like sb said, *try* to stay off it as much as possible.

Awww, sweetie! You can come to my pity party. We can cry on each other's shoulders.:heart:

I would rather use your breasts, but your shoulder will do in a pinch sweetness

*nods* I woulda said that...

The only time I got up since I sprained it was to go pee, and that's because Mister was downstairs getting cat food, making coffee and getting orange juice for me. I couldn't wait for him to come all the way back upstairs to help me go pee because my eyeballs were floating.

I've been VERY good about it, it's a pretty bad sprain so I'm not chancing it healing bad. That and the fact that it hurts really bad to put ANY pressure on it.

Granted, my boobies are much plushier than my shoulders.

Question is, would it only be Luna on yours, or would turns be taken for the sake of soft spots to cry on for the both of you?

*Hugs from behind and squeezes tight* Get well soon. ^^ Mommies and bad ankles don't mix well.

I would pretend to cry on her boobies when actually I'm attempting to awkwardly unhook her bra from behind. Maybe put in a few theatrical sobs to cover my tracks. Then, when she's vulnerable, BAM! I make my move.

Shhh, don't tell.

Don't worry, I won't. :D
She likes everything to be planned, so this all works out. :3

Sorry to hear it, SD. Good that you are being pampered!

Do you think the pain will clear up in the later weeks enough to risk getting up a bit? :<

Seriously, next year, lock down your entire house and take a sleeping pill, so you can just skip the whole day. ;)

I agree. That may be safest for everyone. ;)

I'm sorry you're not feeling well honey!

I hope you get better soon.

Geez, bad luck.

Remember to get it checked after it heals. I actually had to go to physio for a sprained ankle.

It sounds like you're not being left to your own devices and that's good. Sprains are terrible things. How's it feeling today? Any better?

I just caught this exchange...first good, healthy laugh I have had in days. Thanks. I needed that.:rose:

I'm hoping. The last time I sprained my ankle was really bad, so I had one of those soft casts and crutches. Lame.

FOR CEREAL! I'll just have someone videotape the fireworks. Ugh.

Whoa! Okay, that'll scare me into the doctor's office for sure.

Well, it's still very swollen and if I move my foot at all I can feel the bones like, grinding in it. So that's gross. I try not to move it. The pain isn't nearly as bad as it was the first two days. As long as I keep it propped up and with ice or a compression wrap on it, it really doesn't hurt that much. Course, I could be just saying that because I'm up to my eyeballs in pills.

Yay! We made Luna Laugh!!! *dances around excitedly (in her chair of course)!*

I know that you probably already have been told this but
RICE: rest, ice, compression, elevate.
Hope it gets better soon.

I'm afraid I'll get cabin fever, though. A full month of no walking?! Geeze.

I can take a week off and never leave the house, no problem.

Force me to stay in the house for two days, and there will be trouble.

Remember the friends you got online....and exploit their presence. ;)

Now, for payment. *Points to your chest* That shall be Satin's pillow, for serious. :3

Just take care of yourself, and I hope you feel better soon.

I had a fked up shoulder a few years ago... NOTHING nice.

I messed up my ankle for the first time this winter on some ice. Around here you see ice and walk across it, unless it is glazed ice with water on it. . . yea learned my lesson.

Anyway, I can still feel the injury now and then. At the time of the injury I could not walk on it without assistance. I had to crawl to the bathroom, after my six year old son made the recommendation, as I tried to hop and shuffle there.

I ended up with BioSkin cast. Best thing since the invention of the wheel and sliced cheese. I was suppose to use crutches but after one day of slipping around on them, I decided I was safer to walk slowly and with purpose than to risk another fall.

Ice and compression are your friend. The BioSkin I have did wonders for the compression. Here is the model I ended up with. http://www.bioskin.com/Trilok-Ankle-Control-Brace.html

I wore that thing for about 3 months and it rocked. I got a size large than what they called for, since it was winter here and I really needed to have a sock on the foot, not over the brace.

Yeah It's a 60$ brace but well worth it. I keep it around in case I might do something that might be risky for the ankle.

Apparently there are 3 or 4 level of ankle sprains and with my heal time (still going through it) I had the worse level.

The other thing that you need to know is once you sprain an ankle it is more susceptible to injury in the future. I try to rehab and strengthen it when I go to the gym.

Good luck!
