An Aussie couple and their teenage kids (above 18) decide to take a trip to a remote Indonesian island. However, although they intend to soak up the sunshine and enjoy the beaches, they are not mere vacation goers. Tired of life in the modern humdrum of Australia and wanting to pursue his dreams of owning what could be a potentially lucrative plantation, the husband together with his eager family has relocated there in order to carve out a new life for themselves. The locals are welcoming and friendly ,especially towards the wife and daughter. ;)

However, some of the locals warn them about a sinister supernatural presence lurking close to their proposed homestead which they refer to as the ''Old Man'' or ''Orang Tuah''. If their dream is to be realized, this being must be appeased..

Is there anyone who might enjoy collaborating with me on this story idea? Due to other commitments, I will have to write it in drips and drabs, but I do hope that readers will enjoy the combination of an exotic locale and the occult.

A little TOO exotic a locale maybe?

Perhaps? I do not have a story on Lit, yet, but do love writing. For myself, I need to have a bit of an understanding and/or interest in a topic, place, person, etc., to be able to write about it. Without some prior knowledge or experience I would feel unable to do a story justice.

Your idea sounds quite interesting and promising; something I'd enjoy reading. I know; however, that I couldn't do the tale justice. Same with "era"/vintage/historical stories... They intrigue me a lot and I'd love to read them, but I'm not comfortable even trying to write them.

Well, this story will be more fantasy than anything else. The Indonesian island in question does not actually exist, anymore than King Kong's Skull island did. What I'm trying to do is actually capture the sort of sentiments that inspired films like King Kong in the first place. It's also intended as something of a cautionary tale. The Aussie family is devoted to hippy/New Age ideals and thus feels motivated to escape materialistic, modern Australia but they fail to understand that immersing oneself in the exotic always carries a price.

Ah. Well, it may still take an Aussie or someone familiar with customs and/or the real Indonesian islands, etc, anyway. As an example, I would be totally green here. Perhaps more often than not the other readers to this board are as well? Good luck though!

Hmm, that's a valid point. Is there any alternative, ''exotic'' location that American readers might be more familiar with? Thanks a lot.

By no means would it be "the same", but maybe the Louisiana bayou and/or Naw'lins? :) It is exotic there.

That's a good suggestion actually. At the potential risk of offending some readers, that particular location could host a mysterious voodoo cult straight out of a tale wrought by Lovecraft. Or am I stretching it a little too far? Once again, thanks so much for the feedbac.k

I don't know... I think your original idea, especially with its mysterious horror basis, gives the readers an excellent chance to tap into the mythology of Indonesia, which could poentially make for a great story.

If you remember the popularity boom in Japanese horror remakes (e.g. The Grude, The Ring, Dark Water, etc.) during the past decade, I think that the appeal came largely from the fact that the foreign mythology makes the story all the more unsettling, but also more compelling. Having said that, I know nothing about Indonesia, save from being able to point it out on a map, so many their authentic mythology doesn't leave itself open to storylines of this nature. Much less an erotic horror storyline...

''Origin myth

According to legend, Batara Kala is the son of Batara Guru (the Javanese version of Shiva).[2] Batara Guru has a very beautiful wife named Dewi Uma (Parvati). One day Batara Guru, in a fit of uncontrolled lust, forced himself on Dewi Uma. They had sexual intercourse on top of his vahana Nandi, a divine cow. This behavior ashamed Uma, who cursed both of them so they appeared as fearsome and ugly ogres. This fierce form of Dewi Uma is also known in Hinduism as Durga. From this relationship, Batara Kala was born with the appearance of an ogre.[2]

Another origin story is that he was conceived when a drop of Shiva's semen was swallowed by a fish.[3]

Batara Kala is described as having an insatiable appetite and being very rude. He was sent by the devas to Earth to punish humans for their evil habits. However, Batara Kala was interested only in devouring humans to satisfy his appetite. Alarmed, the devas then recalled Batara Kala from the Earth.[1] He later became ruler of the underworld, together with the goddess Setesuyara.[4]''

This was taken from Wikipedia.

I imagine the ''Old Man'' in question being a creature that closely resembles Batara Kala in origin, except that instead of devouring humans, he ravishes women, causing them to give birth to monstrous, deformed offspring that are feared and yet venerated as minor godlings. Erotic enough, you reckon?

Certainly!

There's a lot of places you can go with that storyline, especially if you expose the underlying mythology little by little and how it relates to the main plot.

I see the ''Old Man'' as some kind of fertility spirit which must be appeased by being allowed to breed with women. The Aussie family eventually learn from the locals what they have to do after their palm trees die mysteriously. But when they indignantly refuse to cooperate, the Old Man comes for his rightful due and imposes his yoke on them. That's the main plot, at least for now.

What if there was a small island just off the coast that most of the locals seem to avoid, yet it seems to have a small population of women who all dress the same and who are sometimes seen either fishing in boats, or collecting coconuts on the island's beach.

Within days of settling in to their new home, the family's teenage son becomes bored and decides to go exploring. A typical brash teen, he ignores the warnings about where he shouldn't go and approaches the island. As he nears the island he begins to notice that the women are all youngish - from 18 to their thirties, and that they are all very sexy. In particular, a beautiful twenty-something lady catches his eye.

The women are all shy and have no interest in him, but he puts on the cheesy charm, really trying to get the attention of the one he wants. Eventually, he manages to talk her into having sex with him.

It turns out that the women are all enthralled local maidens under the spell of the mystical old-man/demigod. They are his harem. Livid that another man has soiled one of his love slaves, the creature goes over to the young man's house and claims his family in retribution.

I'd really like to use this idea if it's fine with you. I might modify it slightly by making
it such that just as the kid kisses the woman, she reveals her true appearance as one of the Old Man's hideous female offspring in a moment of passion. Furious that the young man has spurned her, she then tells her father that he attempted to ravish her, prompting the demigod to claim the young man's mother and sister in revenge.

Yes, I'm more than happy for you to use the idea. :)

BTW, if you really wanted to increase the ick-factor of the story, you could have it that the shows her true face only after first penetration. The man wants to flee, but the woman's vagina clenches onto his cock, making it impossible for him to remove himself from her.

Alternately, you could make it that she begins riding him cowgirl and once he sees her true nature, it becomes apparent that she is much stronger than him. Struggle as he might, he can't throw her off until after she's ridden him to orgasm.
