*spoiler alert* Hey Gump! The Broncos are 6 and 0!

They might be the most unconvincing 6-0 team in the history of football, though.
If they can't protect 18 better or establish a running game this steak won't last. The defense is playing great, but that can't sustain the entire season. They will be gassed by week 10.

That said, my chargers again found a way to give me just enough hope to wind up breaking my heart.

I love my Browns but I am also a big Peyton Manning fan. It is hard to watch him....not be 100%. It's really hard for me, anyway.

This. They have no business being 6-0 and no way does it last.

They have no business being 6-0...

What an absolutely, subjectively ridiculous statement: I don't know of any other team in the NFL this year which has had to work harder for their wins than Denver, which has earned their wins with more grit and pure talent.

The Bronco's D is obviously the star this year of Manning decline but, the fact is, just like yesterday, 18 has recovered from his bumbles after that D has done its job and he's led the Broncos to be in position to win when it counts. I can instantly remember at least 3 of these wins so far where Manning engineered the game winning drive as, once again, he did yesterday.

To be sure, there's no doubt these first 6 games were easier to win than the Bronco's next 6 games portend to be, and if Denver's offensive line doesn't keep improving upon what they did yesterday, and Manning nonetheless gains better control over his INTs, I question if the Broncos won't be 10-2 or 9-3 six games from now - neither record, if either are the actual case, anything to be ashamed of in the least.

If Manning is done, then Manning is done - there's no way to obscure that. But what his subjective critics might want to consider is that Manning has almost always excelled at the start and then many times faded toward the end...

Ponder if the opposite is in play this season.

He may not be 100% anymore but he is still capable of winning games and if he's not worthy of 6-0, then why oh why is he 6-0??????????????????????

Manning isn't winning shit. He's doing awful. His defense has bailed him out every single time. And I'm a Manning fan. A big one.

Defending a QB who is obviously done is just fandom. The only reason they've won anything is because the defense has made it possible by getting them out of situations they shouldn't have been in to begin with. Conducting a game winning drive is fine but in most cases they shouldn't be in that position.

Oh for goodness sake, he had a bad game on Sunday, yes but I think you are going way too far when you say he's doing shit. He's not 100%, he's not himself, it's obvious but he's doing enough to win games.

and I'm not going to sit here and argue with you either.

But he's not. Every game has been shit. He has more INT's than TD's. It's not one game, it's the season so far and it's the defense doing what it takes. Manning still has some plays left in him but to think he's just having a couple bad games is fooling yourself.
I get it, I like him, too and I liked Favre but I won't be one to make excuses when their time is done.

7 TD's, 10 INT's and a 72 rating so far for the season. There is nothing good about that for Peyton Manning. For lower tier QB's it's not the end of the world but to a guy who's a lock for first ballot HOF? No.

and they are 6-0.

and they are 6-0.

Nobody is debating that. The debate is why and it's not because of Manning, it's in spite of him.
I point to the Ravens and Bucaneers first SB wins as evidence that a team can win despite a shit QB and almost total lack of a productive offense. Problem with Denver is their defense is good but it's not that good. If the D was as good as the Ravens were back then I'd say they absolutely deserve being 6-0 but it's not.

I am sitting here rolling my eyes at you.

Well that's fine but I'm right about this. I'm sorry that someone you like is doing poorly, I actually feel the same way. I do not like to see someone like Manning having such a bad time. I have always enjoyed watching him play.
However he's done. It happens to every athlete at some point and it's his time. Brady will be next but obviously not this year.
The Broncos have the wrong coach, the wrong QB and a pretty good defense. That's enough against Cleveland and Detroit but the rest of the year will be against Packers, Pats, Steelers, Bengals, Chargers and I guess you can count the Colts even though we all know how they're doing.
The rest of the season will not be fun for them.

i think peyton will right his ship before the season is up, but i don't think that means he's going to be lighting the league on fire ever again. i think playing adequately will be enough. hell, if he can stop the picks he'll do fine.

but we'll see. panicking is for chumps.

He'll probably stop the picks because he's smart and will figure out what he's doing. Still gotta make the TD's though and I don't see that happening now that the easy part of the season is over.
I could be wrong of course. Wouldn't be the first time but I'm pretty sure I'm not. On the other hand I thought the Colts had it all this year and the Pats were going to stink up the place.
