Splitting my author's account in two?

I'm starting to realize that I my stories are easily separated into two distinct categories, and I was wondering if I could create another author account and move some of my stories there.

The only way that might be possible is by sending a Private Message (PM) to Laurel. I'm sure she can do it BUT it would be a considerable task.

I have stories as oggbashan and as jeanne_d_artois but I created jeanne just for a different style of stories.

There could be problems with some readers thinking that the second you is plaigarising your original account. The url of all the moved stories will be changed. Anyone who has bookmarked an original won't find the moved one.

I do not think it is worth the effort.
After all, if you write two (or more) different types of story, you'll be known as a more competent author.

You could set up another author account and post NEW stories into it, but then you halve your volume in both accounts and it could take longer to build up a decent sized portfolio. There are writers who say they do this. Ogg is open about it - see above - there are others who say they have multiple alts but don't reveal who they all are so who knows.

Too much hassle for me to bother about - the different categories are enough separation for me.

You could do that easily, by deleting and re-posting to a new pseudonym. However I don't believe there is anything to be gained. You might lose part of your audience in the process.

If both categories are performing well under one name, you're probably best served to leave things as they are.

If you're looking to expand in a direction you feel may alienate your current readership or adversely affect the numbers on your existing work ( Moving into the Loving Wives category, for example ) then starting a new pen name to house those stories could be something to consider.

All you need to start a new account is a second email address, which you can easily obtain from any number of free email providers. There is no prohibition against having multiple author accounts. I have three pen names on Lit.

This is no problem at all!

To move your stories from one account to the other, login to either account and create a submission (this won't be published) titled "MOVE STORIES". In the body of the submission, let us know which account from and to you want the stories moved.

If for some reason you'd want the losing account deleted, please let us know that as well.
