Just a public service anouncement. It should win an oscar for something to bad it won't because it is Sci-Fi/Fantasy.

I agree. Spiderman DID kick ass. I was surprised actually. I figured they'd over do it with the movie. But they didn't and it was awesome.

i think i actually liked spiderman more than i did Ep. II.
Spiderman was fun :)

It may not win, but, yes, I think it will get nominated for something. Visuals & Effects, anyway.

Spiderman really only has a shot at special effects (maybe, maybe best actor), but of course the competition will be tough for that category this year at the Oscars.

Its ok so did I. I loved the Spider-man cartoon and the comic. Hell, I was 14 or 15 when the cartoon was going on and I still liked it.

Spiderman will not get nominated for best actor. Nor, in my opinion, does it deserve to. Yes the performance was good, but no oscar worthy. But the reason why he will not get nominated is because it is a science fiction/fantasy/comic book movie. As we saw this year, even Ian McKellan's outstanding performance as Gandalf was not enough to overcome the stigma of a fantasy movie. One hopes the academy will not let this stigma to continue as, in my opinion, LOTR should win best picture and best director, at the least, for one of the next two movies.
As you pointed out, in special effects, its competition will be tough, not only will it be battling Ep. II, but also the Two Towers.
its a tough year for movies with special effects to come out.

Great movie, lots of fun, very good acting, good script--light years ahead of most summer blockbusters.

But what sets Spider-Man apart from just about all other movies is the presence of the radiant Kirsten Dunst. I think she's about the prettiest girl on this planet, but I was a bit nonplussed when I realized she was going to be a readhead in this movie. My fears were absurd. She lights up the screen. So, so pretty.

The only girl who could maybe compete with Ms. Dunst for sheer beauty would be Natalie Portman, another ridiculously lovely woman. I haven't seen AOTC yet, but I can only hope she doesn't spend most of the movie in Kabuki makeup, as she did in PM. I've heard the latest Star Wars movie doesn't suck as bad as Phantom Menace, but that it still sucks. I doubt it's any fault of Ms. Portman's.

If Kirsten Dunst and Natalie Portman ever make a movie together, you'll see me camping out weeks before it opens like the Star Wars whack-jobs. When might we get a chance to see more beauty concentrated in such a small space? A Caribbean sunset? The Aurora Borealis?

You''l be happy with Natilie in this movie,(especially the climax.) HUBBA-HUBBA!!!!!!!!!

Spiderman rocked - I laughed, I cried, I screamed - I can't wait to see it again!
